When the gods come calling, you don’t get to say no.
Patrick Collins is three years into a career as a special agent for the Supernatural Operations Agency when the gods come calling to collect a soul debt he owes them. An immortal has gone missing in New York City and bodies are showing up in the wake of demon-led ritual killings that Patrick recognizes all too easily from his nightmares.
Unable to walk away, Patrick finds himself once again facing off against mercenary magic users belonging to the Dominion Sect. Standing his ground alone has never been a winning option in Patrick’s experience, but it’s been years since he’s had a partner he could trust.
Looking for allies in all the wrong places, Patrick discovers the Dominion Sect’s next target is the same werewolf the Fates themselves have thrown into his path. Patrick has been inexplicably attracted to the man from their first meeting, but desire has no place in war. That doesn’t stop Patrick from wanting what he shouldn’t have. Jonothon de Vere is gorgeous, dangerous, and nothing but trouble—to the case, to the fight against every hell, and ultimately, to Patrick’s heart and soul.
In the end, all debts must be paid, and Patrick can only do what he does best—cheat death.
REVIEW:
What a book. Full of everything I love! Magic, demons, wolves, vamps and much more. And of course, morons who are greedy trying to get more power then they need. As if the gods themselves aren’t bad enough. People never learn.
Looking forward to a much needed vacation, Patrick heads out. He’s quickly rerouted to a crime scene and some murders that are happening. Unfortunately, Patrick has to comply because he knows he’s needed. But he’s not happy. His scars constantly make him feel off and he knows he’s treading a thin line of going overboard on work. When another officer takes him to a seer, he gets more than he bargained for. The fates have placed a werewolf shifter in his lap and he wants no part of it. But as with all lessons from gods he’s learned, he has no choice. Now he has to get to the bottom of these crimes, while protecting Jono from death and saving the rest of the gods. But he doesn’t know if he can survive long enough to keep everyone safe.
Holy crap Patrick run!! Lol. Of course, he’s screwed because the gods always find him. No matter where he goes. He has been put through hell in his life. From the time he was a kid, he’s been fighting against something. His asshole father, the goddess who saved him, and now the ones who want him dead. All because people are greedy as hell. And he’s stuck in the middle. Poor man just wanted a vacation! Is that so wrong?? Lol. The fates intervened again, though, and gave him Jono. Sexy, sexy Jono. He’s been through a hell of his own, but being around Patrick is definitely hazardous to his health lol. He’s like a trouble magnet. But for Jono, it’s worth it. Because he’s been looking for something for a long time, and he thinks he’s finally found it. Love these two.
I love pretty much all the characters. Except for Ethan and Zachary. Even the gods have their uses lol. If only as a punching bag. Each character, even the assholes, have so much to them. They are complex and very secretive. With layers you have to dig through. Makes things very interesting. This book is packed with action, emotion, and much more. I’m anxious to see how this is going to go in the next book.
