REVIEW:
I don’t really know where I want to start. The premise of the book sounds AMAZING. I was really looking forward to reading the 4 books in the series and then I started reading and that’s when it lost me.
The good: I like the two MC’s. These guys are a great. I mean, they serve our country and they were in when DADT was in effect, so you know that they hid their relationship from EVERYONE. These guys had such a dangerous job and yet, they found that they could have the person that they loved with them…as scary as that seems to me…and yet, they couldn’t hold hands or show affection to that person without losing their military careers.
I also liked the action/adventure parts of the story. I’m a sucker for a story that takes me along on the adventure and I feel like I’m right there with them…holding the line and keeping my (their) team safe. I have to say that this story really had some good action/adventure. I was totally drawn in with that as well as the mystery surrounding what was happening and why it was happening. I was curious as to see if it would conclude at the end of the story of if the author would drag it out over other books…sigh…it’s dragged over to other(s)? book(s). I’ve not read the other books yet, so I don’t know if it’s over the other 3 books or just the second book in the series.
There were some good secondary characters that I know some that get their own books…yea!! Some you just wanted to strangle because…hello…friend…not the person who tells someone who they can and can’t talk to…just a pet peeve of mine…but I digress. The guys of Team Panther…good guys…good men to have at your back in times of need as well as good times. I really enjoyed getting a good look into who these men are.
I liked that you got to see when Jonah and Matt first met and how they got along. I also enjoyed seeing when they got together and how that effected their lives at home and at work. That was a real nice segway into the present…giving us glimpses of the past.
The Bad: OH MY LANTA…I swear I thought I was gonna lose my mind over the editing of this story…YIKES…the spelling, commas, the words that made no sense or it was the spelling of a word that threw me off.
Also…the flow kept being off for me…I like the premise…I like the characters…besides the editiing…the flow still wasn’t that great for me. I’m really hoping that the other books in the series are better. I’m reading them all for review. I see that they came out over a few months this year.
Overall, I have to say that the book was pretty good…there were some issues that really took me out of the story…but I’m willing to give the author the benefit of the doubt and hopefully the series gets better.
