Coming off a jilted engagement, Casey is done with relationships, swearing off marriage forever. But when he discovers sweet, sexy Stevie in financial trouble, Casey can’t help but step up and offer to marry him so he can qualify for financial aid and fulfill his dream of becoming a teacher.
They’re determined to keep this marriage a temporary arrangement by setting firm rules and sticking to them. The most import rule of all? Absolutely no falling in love. But the longer these two are together, the closer they get to crossing the line.
Once emotions get involved, who will break the marriage rules first?
REVIEW:
Okay, so I’m seriously addicted to this series. Seriously. I’m only a little sad because I really, really, really want to see Linc’s story. I feel like an addict in need of a fix lol. I NEED Linc’s story. But this one. This series has been amazing. I love how this one turned out. It was so sweet. And with the exception of the fake marriage bit, it’s how it should be. Friends to lovers.
Stevie had plans to come out and live his life the way he wanted. He had already started by standing up for himself by changing his degree. If he could just get through the next little bit to finish school, he’d be free. But a photo from a gay club caught in a him in a compromising position, and he was shoved way out of the closet before he was ready. Yeah it was just a kiss in the picture but it was damning. Now he’s lost everything. Money for school, his home, and his bigoted family. But his crush and friend, Casey, has an idea. A fake marriage to help him get the financial assistance he needs to finish. Casey doesn’t really want to get married so he has no plans to fall in love. Once Stevie is done, they call it quits, and boom. Everyone goes on with their lives. But a fake marriage turns into friends with benefits into something more that both don’t know how to deal with. Especially since they set up marriage rules and the biggest was no falling in love. But almost completely losing Stevie shows Casey that maybe these rules are meant to be broken. He only hopes he can fix everything before it’s too late.
Oh these two. Just the sweetest guys. I love all these guys but Stevie and Casey were just adorable. I was hoping when they decided to do this fake marriage that they meant it for real when they did it, but alas. They both had things to work through. Mainly Casey. Stevie was just so special because he has this…..almost naive like attitude. He seems so innocent. And it was just almost a crime to have anything happen to him. He sees life with such enthusiasm and like he’s seeing it for a first time. He gets such joy from everything. And being with Casey, even just as friends, brought such a difference to Casey’s life. The problem with Casey is he’s felt abandoned by everyone. Family, friends, the man he was supposed to marry for real. Being dumped the way he was by his ex did a number on Casey. And I don’t blame him for not wanting to open his heart again. Fortunately, Stevie, even as a friend, has a balm to heal him to his soul. And I wanted to shake him so he would see it. Lol.
If you guys haven’t been reading the series, you need to. It’s so sweet. Each book has its own individuality, of course, but they are a close knit bunch of friends and people who bring such a community to things. It feels like home.
