Sebastian ~
I screwed up and ruined a perfectly good relationship with my ex, Anthony. But my epic screw-up helped him find the happiness he deserved, and that left me truly alone. So my life became the gym I own, and doing the drive-of-shame home after my countless hook-ups. I cut out trying to have any type of relationship, because my heart just wasn’t in it. That is until Tyler walks into my gym, and I can’t get those sad, brown eyes out of my mind. Little do I know, the man who shot me down twice is going to become my best friend.
Tyler ~
Middlebury was supposed to be a fresh start for me. A place where I could begin a new life, a life away from… him. It was to be my breath of fresh air. But it’s hard to breathe when I’m constantly looking over my shoulder. When my personal trainer leaves town for family issues, Sebastian, the man who tried to buy me a drink twice, is the one I’m stuck with training me. Soon, he becomes a whole lot more, but as much as I want to, I’m scared to let my guard down… and let him in.
Sebastian and Tyler each have their own internal battles. But when an unlikely friendship forms out of one personal training session, it’s a different kind of battle they’re forced to face. Instead of hiding their own secrets and lies, they have to decide whether to trust each other and let their friendship blossom into something more. Can they learn to trust each other enough to stop fighting the attraction? Or will their own trust issues stand in the way?
Trigger Warning: While this book is intended for adults—with adult situations—one of the main character’s backstory includes an abusive relationship.
REVIEW:
Such a good book. When I ‘met’ Sebastian in book 1, I really didn’t know what to think of him. I knew I didn’t like him because he hurt Anthony, but he seemed sincere in his apology for screwing up. And now I know why. These tear jerkers are killing lol. This is a very good book. And a good series.
Sebastian had begun to realize lately that he’s lonely. All he does is work then go home. Occasionally he has a one night stand. Ever since he and Anthony had broken up, he didn’t have anyone he really hung out with. Now he doesn’t have time to go looking for friends. One of his employees had to leave for a family emergency and his other two are backed up with clients. And he now has to take a few to help out. And he’s never taken a client since he’s opened the gym. He doesn’t know if he can. When he sees Tyler doing a workout wrong, he corrects him and something in Tyler calls out to him. Especially when he starts training him. But even though he was ‘soft’ on Tyler, Tyler is sore as hell. Something in Sebastian has to take care of him. Little by little, they become friends and get to know each other. But the past has a way of sneaking up and coming out. And both of their pasts are coming to haunt them. Now they have to learn how to let go and move on if they want more than just the friendship they are building.
Like I said, I was still a little off about Sebastian. I know he was sorry for cheating on Anthony, but in most cases ‘once a cheater, always a cheater’. When he started becoming friends with Tyler, I knew he had feelings for him but I was so scared for Tyler after all he has already been through. Still going through. But Sebastian surprised me. Learning his past and what makes him tick shocked the hell out of me and I immediately felt bad. Of course, then I was rooting for them to hurry up and get together lol. These two have a lot to overcome. And let me tell you, it is never easy. Especially with their pasts. Tyler made me so proud standing up for himself and taking back his life. Sebastian took back his life too. By not living in fear. I don’t know which of these two got to me more lol. They are both so special. Each in their own way. Like the butterflies Tyler paints.
This is such a good book. Go read them!! They will make you laugh and cry and it’s worth it.
