Harris must learn to believe in magic before it’s too late.
Rainbow Brew, Book 1
Harris, a buttoned-up Santa Fe architect, is having a crappy day until he ducks into the Rainbow Brew coffee shop to get out of the rain. He meets a quirky artist named Jayden and embarks on a four-day binge of sensual adventures, leaving the real world behind.
Jayden knows he can’t live in the world Harris inhabits, but for this wonderful man he’ll try, even if it ruins him. Jayden lives in a magical Between, where rainy days are few and Harris might not be able to find him again.
Jayden is like no one Harris has ever met, but can Harris let go of the real world to love him?
This is a previously published title. The publisher has changed.
REVIEW:
I have to say that I found this a fairly decent read; I was by turns interested and slightly confused but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. Lol Harris is your typical uptight, routine driven guy who doesn’t usually take a chance on the unusual. He’s the one with his feet firmly planted on the ground when others might be taking a leap of faith…until one craptastic day and an unexpected meeting has him changing the way he does things. Jayden is an artist and a pretty unusual one at that; Harris can’t help but be drawn to him even if he doesn’t understand why. Going home with him is practically the most natural thing ever, even if he doesn’t do that sort of thing. When his unplanned break from reality begins to effect his everyday life, however, Harris needs to figure out how to make things work. To do that, however, will require he take that leap of faith.
Like I said, this was pretty interesting. I liked the premise of the coffee shop as a kind of ‘in between’ way station, though I do wish I’d gotten more information about it (I’m hoping when the owner gets his own book that I might get my wish.) and I found it interesting that the authors kind of gave you a little information here and there about Jayden without coming right out and saying what he was. I have theories but no concrete answers so I’m hoping I’ll get some more info on that later, too!
The story itself had a decent pace and I didn’t feel overly rushed even with this being on the shorter side. I liked all the characters I was introduced to, as well; the only thing that would’ve made it better was those missing details that would’ve required a longer book or, like I’m hoping, a more in depth explanation later. *shrugs* It was a decent read and made for a nice mid day break; I liked it enough to read it again in the future and I’ll definitely be on the look out for more in this series later.
