Can Tennant show Jared that age is just a number and that love is all that matters?
The Rowe brothers are famous hockey hotshots, but as the youngest of the trio, Tennant has always had to play against his brothers’ reputations. To get out of their shadows, and against their advice, he accepts a trade to the Harrisburg Railers, where he runs into Jared Madsen. Mads is an old family friend and his brother’s one-time teammate. Mads is Tennant’s new coach. And Mads is the sexiest thing on which he’s ever laid eyes.
Jared Madsen’s hockey career was cut short by a fault in his heart, but coaching keeps him close to the game. When Ten is traded to the team, his carefully organized world is thrown into chaos. Nine years his junior and his best friend’s brother, he knows Ten is strictly off-limits, but as soon as he sees Ten’s moves, on and off the ice, he knows his heart could get him into trouble again.
REVIEW:
Tennant is the youngest of 3 brothers. He has always felt like he has never made his own decisions for his ice hockey career. So when he decides to take a trade to the Harrisburg Railers, a newer ice hockey team, his dad and brothers are dumbfounded. After all, he is one of the best up and coming hockey players out there right now and he has a wonderful sense of teamwork and comradery. Tennant just never thought he would fall into bed with his brother’s best friend and hockey defensive coach, Jared (Mad).
At first read, I thought this book was going to be like any other in regards to in the closet sports players. Maybe the first few chapters are. But don’t let the authors fool you. There are many different elements to this book that I’ve never read before. Light May/December trope, different family dramas (falling for brother’s best friend), and believable main characters; I probably shouldn’t divulge much. But the way the berry scene played out and ended was hot AND hilarious. He does have a wonderful family, including his parents. There isn’t any heartbreak or sadness.
The audio book is kind of short (to me anything less than six hours is short), which normally turns me off to some because i’ve listened to short audio books that leave out information that is needed or that just don’t seem finished enough. I want more out of a book than just top layers. Both authors blew me away. Even in a relatively short amount of time the characters are very well developed, the story is fleshed out and every moment in the book counted for something. Every moment was wonderful to listen to. They pack a lot of story into a little over 5 hours, which makes it even harder to put down for the night.
Sean Crisden has always done wonderful narrations. This book is no exception. I love his low voice, he can be sexy, sweet, sound like a kid, sound like a parent, anything. The only thing I wish that he would have done was talk a tiny bit slower. I didn’t have a hard time following him, but every once in a while I came across a part that sounded a bit too fast. Other than that, he is a wonderful voice actor and I always watch out for the books he narrates.
