Sven’s heat is coming, and with his mutative gene, the omega is warned he needs an alpha. The only alpha he trusts is Grayson, who is twenty years his senior. He’s also the only one who’s not afraid to take on Sven’s lover, Lars. What is supposed to be just sex turns into much more for Sven. But what alpha would want two boys?
Lars vowed he’d always take care of Sven, but when his lover’s heat comes, he’s not enough. He has to accept the help of the alpha he hates more than anyone—with the exception of his brother Enar, maybe. When Grayson figures out what the beta really craves, Lars pulls his defensive walls up. Alphas can’t be trusted, no matter what promises they make. Not even if they can offer what he never knew he needed.
Grayson never expected to connect with the sweet omega, and even less with the bratty beta who seems out to defy his authority at every chance. But there’s a reason for Lars’s insolent behavior, and soon the combination of these two boys becomes irresistible for Grayson. Can he be the Daddy these two need?
Beta’s Surrender is an MMM mpreg romance and the third book in the Irresistible Omegas series. It is not a stand-alone but continues the story from the first two books. It ends with an HEA for our three men, but the overall storyline will continue in the next books.
Kat’s REVIEW:
Wow! I’m not quite sure who I am anymore! Nora Phoenix has somehow managed to not only make me like a shifter and mpreg series but has successfully managed to have made me a fan and crave it! That’s a pretty darn surprising feat!
“Beta’s Surrender” picks up right where we last were at the ranch. Enar had just walked in on his two brothers going at it in the gym room. Shocked by their actions, he is even more floored by the revelation that his youngest brother, Swen, is adopted, thus making their actions okay in both of their minds. When Lars verbally attacks and abuses Enar he is devastated. Grayson has come to see what all the commotion is. He immediately takes charge of the situation and Lars’ disrespect of the Alpha’s mate. Then Swen goes into his first heat just as Grayson’s son enters the kitchen. He can’t resist the omega’s scent and literally attacks him. Swen is in desperate need of an Alpha with his first heat due to the mutant gene he carries. He is beyond scared now of the large and dominating younger Alphas on the ranch and his only logical choice is Grayson, who came to his rescue. But he’s is old enough to be his father and Lars and Grayson have had some difficulties since their arrival. Can an older Alpha provide exactly what these two young men need?
I am as surprised as anyone that I have become so invested in this series. It is no surprise that I love the Author’s writing style and have become a huge fan but I had high doubts about this series. I had recently just discovered mpreg and was a bit skeptical. I have never really understood or reached out to read the shifter books. The only real connection I had to them was the Twilight series that I read with my daughter when she was young so at least I had a bit of understanding, or so I thought. I had no clue to the Alpha/Beta/Omega concept so this has been a real learning curve for me. I have found that Nora has done a fabulous job of introducing me to this dynamic and beginning to understand it.
I was surprised when I saw that this book was about Grayson and his “boys”. I saw that dynamic coming however we were left on a bit of a major cliffhanger at the end of the last book. I mean a serious cliffhanger as Vieno was in the middle of his heat and just knew that he was pregnant with his Alpha Lidon’s Alpha son! You can’t just leave me hanging with something like that! Which, of course, she didn’t. What we get is the continuing of Lidon/Enar/Palani/Vieno’s story unfolding but start the story of the”Daddy” relationship of Grayson/Lars/Sven.
Daddy kink is pretty new to me also. It showed up in another series I started and am just starting to understand the dynamics of it. This particular relationship has some hurdles to get through though. First, Grayson lives on the ranch with his two grown sons. Sons that are older that the boys. Secondly, Lars and Grayson have had a rocky start since Enar’s younger brothers have come to live on the ranch too. The boys had felt abandoned by their older brother to their disgusting excuse of a father. This lead to the level of disrespect and viciousness that Lars has leveled towards Enar. Although he may have felt justified in his behavior, Lars needs a strong guidance from the Alpha as to how precarious his life is at the ranch really is. Lidon, the Lead Alpha, and Palani, his second in command Beta, are Enar’s mates and will not ever stand for the disrespectful and abusive behavior Lars is demonstrating. Sven needs the comfort and safety of the ranch. Also, both Lars and Sven have mated so they could never survive without the other, they are a package deal. But, with Sven having the mutated Melloni gene, he needs an Alpha’s knotting to survive his heats. Grayson is the obvious perfect choice and Sven falls in quickly to the relationship. Lars is a bit reluctant to seek out what he needs. His mind conflicts with his body. His minds keeps telling him it is wrong for a Beta to just submit but his body is craving the dominance and control. It was a struggle, at times, to watch the defiance when it was so painfully obvious what truly Lars needed. Especially with his and Sven’s upbringing.
One of the most endearing moments was when Lars and Enar finally sat down and let out what had happened and why Enar just abandoned the boys. Their dad was such a vile piece of trash and he manipulated all of his sons so he could try and seek his desires and needs.
To say that I am passionate about this series is an understatement. The dynamics of these relationships are truly amazing to read about. How in-sync with the men are of each other and their needs is wonderful to experience. The love and caring that all these men have for their mates is inspiring. But what I enjoy the most is the writing. I love how this series flows. We are taken along their journey and the author has written this so smoothly that it just allows you to experience everything that is happening. You become invested in what is happening to all the pack and you fear when they fear, sigh when it goes well and hope for a bright future. I have stated before that I believe that Nora Phoenix is a naturally gifted and talented author. What she has accomplished in such a short time is unbelievable. I am a true fan of her work and am eagerly awaiting more.
Even if you thought that you weren’t a fan of polyamorous relationships, of shifter/wolf pack novels or of mpreg books, I highly recommend that you give this series a try. I have become a believer and am waiting with bated breath for the next book in this amazing series because, yes, Nora has left me out on that ledge once again! I will state for the record that you definitely need to read this series in the order it is written and that this book is not a standalone.
Becca’s REVIEW:
This series….holy hell. Smokin hot. It just gets better and better. Most intrigue, more bonding, more sex 😉 lol. The characters are developing more each time and it’s been amazing to read. I’m also not usually a fan of the whole ‘Daddy’ kink thing, but it fit in this book. It added a whole new depth to the story and brought more eccentricity. I’ve absolutely loved that Greyson was the main focus in this story. Him and his ‘boys’.
Lars and Sven have been hanging out at the ranch after getting away from their asshole father. They’ve kinda kept to themselves, because one, no one gets the love between them since they are supposed to be brothers. (Even though Sven is adopted.) Also, because Lars has a HUGE chip on his shoulder. Most of it aimed at Enar, because Lars felt abandoned by him. But Greyson has had enough of this attitude and he thinks he figured out a way to fix it. By involving them in a Daddy/boy relationship. Lars is in definite need of discipline and structure and Sven needs an alpha, especially with his heat here. But Lars butts him at every turn and Greyson has about given up on what needs to be done. Until he figures out what Lars REALLY needs. Little by little, things start coming in to focus and better, just as things at the ranch itself gets worse. Palani has discovered what’s really going on around them with all the politics and a scientist has gone missing. Lidon is convinced he’s never going back to work. Not with all they are trying to hang on him. He’s not hurting for money but he’s restless. Big changes are coming and he feels it down to his soul. With Vieno being pregnant, everyone is on high alert, and with the way the government is changing, hopefully it will turn out to be good for Omegas. Everyone is still learning their place in the pack and in each other’s lives as the ranch grows in people and buildings. But everyone is worried at how big the changes are going to get and will it be for the better.
Man, Greyson got a HUGE dose of reality in this book. *Cackles* He is the one everyone seems to turn to for legends and research into certain things, but he never thought he’d be considered as an alpha to help an Omega during their heat. When Sven picked him, he was floored. He kept thinking he was too old. Too old for them, too old period. But he opinion quickly got doused when he got a good sniff of Sven. But what really amazed me is when he saw how he was really needed in these boys’ lives. Like I said earlier, I’m not a huge fan of the Daddy kink, but it fit here so much. Greyson was needed in so many different ways with these boys. He had many roles to fill, but it all fell under ‘Daddy’. He catered to every need, even ones they didn’t think they needed. And they started to blossom. Well Sven did. Lars took a lot to finally surrender. But Lars had had to be strong for so long. Taking care of everyone and everything, especially Sven. He never got to be a child. He was never nurtured. But he made the biggest impression on everyone when he finally let go. It was a butterfly coming from its cocoon. So beautiful. A diamond finally polished and shaped into who he’s supposed to be. And Sven…..finally felt truly whole and needed. We can’t forget the four that started this series either. Their relationship has grown so much more. The bond between them all stronger and more powerful than ever. Each one fulfilling their roles and leaders of the pack and as mates to each other. The support they give to each other in the tons of adversity they keep getting attacked with.
This book is my favorite so far out of this series. I’ve loved them all, don’t get me wrong, but this one pushed it’s way up to the top. The bonds, the relationships, the development of the characters were so much more in depth, and it wasn’t just about sex. It was about intimacy and the love and growth of the bonds they were forming or ones getting stronger. I know there’s issues out in the community about mpreg, but don’t let that stop any of you from giving it a try. It’s a great series.
