REVIEW:
You know, I can remember back when I was in school and being in awe of people who could write poetry. I was also in awe of people who could take those words and memorize them and bring them to life. I still am. But for me, it was never a passion. I wish it was. Words move me. I can feel, most times, what the author is trying to convey. Sometimes it’s easy. Sometimes it’s really hard. I remember reading people like Whitman and being so aggravated that I could never remember the words. Or only a few. When I stumbled across this book, I was kinda hesitant. I mean, the key words in the blurb are prose and poetry. But then I thought about those poems bay in the day and I wanted to try again to see if I could feel that passion in the words. I may not remember them, but I can appreciate them for what they are, and this book was……..so emotional.
The way things were worded…it brought such deep thoughts and feelings. You could feel everything the author was feeling. And for most of these poems, it was heartbreaking. The loss of love or a lover. I cried. But it wasn’t just heartbreaking. It was thoughtful. Things of spirituality. The ‘big God’. Other gods and goddesses. How things worked. The whys? Childhood memories. Observations in the world around us. It was extraordinary to see things through the authors eyes and mind. To know what he thinks and feels.
You may not be a lover of poetry, but give this a try anyway. I always find it interesting to see what other people think and feel for real and not hidden behind a mask.
