Brett Rocha retired from pro-hockey while still at the top of his game. Co-owner of a chain of restaurants and an inherited ice skating academy, he seems to have it all. Despite his fame, wealth, and good fortune, though, Brett suddenly finds himself painfully alone.
Ex-Olympic figure skating star Rylan Hennessy transitioned to professional ice dancing with Celia, Brett’s sister and Rylan’s lifelong partner on the ice. Then tragedy strikes, and Rylan’s world is turned upside down, too.
With the unexpected death of Celia, Brett and Rylan are drawn together through their mutual grief. Their bond strengthens when Brett introduces Rylan to BDSM, a lifestyle Rylan has never experienced before. While the mystery of Celia’s murder still needs to be solved, a second tragedy threatens to tear them apart.
Will their relationship survive, or will love be enough to see them through this life altering, harrowing change?
REVIEW:
I have to say that this book was pretty good. I enjoyed reading about a male ex-olympic figure skater /ice dancer and a former hockey player who’ve known each other for years, however, it’s not until now that they’ve truly gotten to know each other. I like that even though their relationship moved at insta-love…I didn’t feel that it was such a bad thing.
The story starts off really well done…I mean, the way that these two men come together after the death of Celia, Brett’s sister and Rylan and the way that they come together…it was sweet and it was beautiful. The way that they leaned on each other and the way that they helped each other thru the difficult times. These men, these two men who came together in tragedy and from that…they made something beautiful.
The mystery aspect was pretty good…I have to say that it was done in such a way that it took me a few moments to actually get who done it…when it all came down…I thought that the author had done a really good job at making you think a bit about who dunnit. When you find out why they did it…it truly made my heart hurt and I was really pissed off about it. However, are there any really good reasons.
The sexy times in this book were very tastefully done…nothing extreme and the BDSM was very light and it won’t offend anyone who doesn’t truly care for it. I liked that they were so very compatible in what they both needed and wanted.
I found Brett to be this really good man. I liked that he was successful in business and yet, his heart was always in the correct place. He never made a move that I felt wasn’t natural to him. That even though his heart was breaking over the loss of his sister, his only living relative and finding out why she was killed…and yet, his big heart is still open and that was really wonderful to see.
Rylan…I get him…he’s only done this one thing his whole life and with one person and when that was taken away from him…how to go on? Then he gets reaquainted with Brett and things progress with them…it was sweet and endearing to read thru. Then when he is hurt…you can see how badly that affects him. I get it…to lose out on the only thing that you’ve ever done with your life and to just feel..broken. His struggles were real and I understood them. I was glad to see that he was able to find his way into something different. He had the love of a good man in his corner…that helped a lot.
Overall, it was a sweet story that captured my attention and held it mostly throughout the story.
