BLURB:
As the so-called magical creatures go, I’m low on the hierarchy, and my powers aren’t much good to human mages. I’m a lover, not a fighter, through and through. I’m also selfish, lazy, and easily bored. But I’m damned good at what I do.
Too bad that won’t get my arse out of this sling.
Do one—granted, uncharacteristic—good deed, and now I’m held hostage to an arrogant faerie prince, trying to track down the one who summoned him while dodging gangbangers, gun runners, and Nazis. Add the powerful mage guilds scrambling to gather firepower for some doomsday event they’re sure is around the corner, and my cushy life of leisure might be nothing but a memory. On top of that, something’s compelling me to change on my most fundamental level. I’m not sure what I’ve got myself mixed up in, but nothing will ever be the same.
Bloody hell.
REVIEW:
I’m really sad about this book. I wanted to like it so bad. I love the characters, the concept of the characters, and I get where the plot was going, but it just seemed lacking to me. There was action and bad guys you want to throat punch to say the least, good guys fighting for good, and even some cute kittens in the mix. I just had a hard time getting through it.
‘Inky’ was lazy, as he calls himself. He doesn’t want to do much. Just enjoy ‘feeding’ off people. He doesn’t like confrontation, fights, or anything of the sort. But a smell has driven him to a seedy mage bar and he can’t help but follow his nose. What he finds at the end of his nose gives him a shock of his life. A fey. How the hell did someone get a fey here? Whoever did Inky is afraid to find out. He knows what will happen if mages get their hands on him. So he does what he can to get him out. But ‘Blossom’ is the most infuriating fae ever. He is stuck in helping find whoever summoned Blossom, but all he wants to do is get away. But the destination to who summoned Blossom, leads to some very dark and dangerous paths, and they have to go along to save someone so precious. It’s a race against time and evil forces to save this person and try to end some of this evil.
Blossom I could have done without lol. But like any book or story I’ve heard, fae are dicks most of the time. And he fit right in. Oh I wanted to slap him sometimes so bad. Inky, Emrys, Jet and Dante were the characters I really loved. Inky often describes himself as lazy and not a fighter and just not wanting to do anything, but when it came down to it, he’s the one who got everything in motion in some ways. Being an Incubus, it allowed him to be seen as the opposite person wanted him to be and he got to be in places others couldn’t go for info. And I loved that he kept going even when he didn’t want to. Jet is a gender neutral wonder. They are a mage and technology genius who can get into things even the best hackers can’t. But I loved Jet’s personality. They were so sparkly and full of life. Their soul mate, to say the least, Emrys was a Wonder of his own. He refused to join guilds and do things that went against his beliefs. He was also asexual and helped Dante with coming to terms with his own asexuality. Dante always felt weird around most people because he has never had sex and don’t want to. His whole life is his little sister and doing everything he can to make things better for her.
I think the characters are what made the book for me. They were so full of personality and not afraid to be different from the norm.
