REVIEW:
I have been waiting (not very patiently) for this new spin-off series to the Death and Destruction Series to come out since I read the introduction at the end of the last book. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Pope Dades has been a very successful LAPD Detective in the Hollywood division. When he divulged his sexual orientation to his now EX best friend and partner everything went very wrong. Now he works alone, with no delusions that anyone will ever back him up. After his most recent bust went bad he decides to blow off some steam at a West Hollywood gay club. DHS Homeland SecurityInvestigator Felix Jbarra is undercover working on a case involving kidnapping and selling children for sex trafficking. He is also very deeply in the closet for fear of what his devote Catholic family will say. So, after another setup/blind date his sister has arranged, he heads to Blue Wave, a gay bar in West Hollywood, to get what he really wants and needs. After a very satisfying encounter he realizes that he just hooked up with the man he saw on his stakeout, that shot the drug dealer’s car. After some initial tense moments the two decide that they like hanging together. But can two law enforcement men start something when one of them is in great danger?
Patty Logan never fails to put her men in danger! I have come to realize that her men are just going to get the crap beat out of them…either intentionally or not! This makes for very intense and great reading. I was thrilled to see Snow and Mac show up on the joint forces sting. And when she described a particularly gorgeous white haired man with piercing ice blue eyes I was salivating at the chance to see my Jarrett again. I really hope that we see more of both him, Thayne and the rest of the ATF and FBI agents I have grown quite fond of. Okay, so fond is a bit mild…I love these agents! I was also stoked to meet up with Detectives Cassidy Ryan and Mike Williams! I fell for Cassidy in Silver Linings. Patty does a great job of intertwining previous favorites into her new series. It’s great to get to meet up with old friends again.
It was particularly difficult to see Felix having to doubt his partner and friend after Pope was burned so bad by his. However, I think this will not only strengthen their relationship and will teach both men how to lean on and trust their partner both personally and professionally. I look forward to watching this relationship grow and thrive. Oh, in case you were wondering, the red hot sex these two men have literally almost burns up the pages it is so hot!
I was pleasantly surprised at the changes that are coming forward that were explained in the epilogue. I am really hoping that we will have a lot of joint task forces to bring down the evil criminals that Pope and Felix will have to chase and capture.
As you can tell, I am already a huge fan of this new series and can’t wait for more. Patty Logan does a great job of reeling you in and once you are a fan you can’t get enough!
