Between planning his wedding with his undead Canadian fiancé, Kit Ward, and his continued studies as a medical student, Edward didn’t need another commitment, but he can’t turn away people who are frightened or in danger.
A particularly vicious ghost gives Edward an ominous warning—they’re coming—and a few days later Edward’s notebook is stolen from him. While he’s attempting to find it, he and his mentor, Mariel, are confronted by a very powerful necromancer and barely escape with their lives.
On the run, Edward is pursued everywhere he goes, until the necromancers following him manage to capture Kit.
Edward’s hunt for his kidnapped fiancé will take him to the underworld and beyond.
REVIEW:
Oh gah!! I was biting my nails, my lips and everything in this one. I have absolutely LOVED this series and this one had me on the edge of my seat! If something happened….well it did but shew. I can’t give it away! But I was nervous!
Edward has taken up a part-time ‘job’, even though he doesn’t get paid, getting rid of ghost in people’s houses. He doesn’t want to do it because he really doesn’t have time, especially with trying to help plan his wedding, but he feels like he owes to people to help. And the ghosts too, until one ghost gave a bad warning. Somebody was coming for him. Of course he was scared to death. He went to Mariel for help, but instead she ran off scared herself. To make matters worse, an important notebook he had was stolen. And the person who stole it is now a zombie himself, being controlled by a very powerful necromancer. Mariel comes to the rescue at the last minute, but now everyone important to him and himself is on the run from some very bad people. He thinks they may be ok after everyone is safely hidden, but Kit comes up missing and Edward has to find him. He goes to his ex Bone for help and gets the shock of his life. He finally sees and knows what Bone really is. With Bone’s help, they embark on a journey to save Kit, destroy the evil council and put things back in order. But nothing comes without a price, and Edward has to pay with the ultimate to make things right.
You know, Mariel has always annoyed me to a degree. She took Edward under her wing to teach him, but she leaves so much out. And Edward is clueless about so many things he should have known a long time ago. Even knowing what Bone is. When he went to save Kit, he came up on things he had no clue about. So I really am not happy with Mariel in this book. But we finally found out what Bone is!!!! And I’m not telling lol! You have to read it. And I have to hand it to Bone. He’s always seemed kinda aloof when it comes to things, but he really stepped up for Edward. You get to see a whole new side to Bone. Well literally too lol. And I loved it. Bone didn’t back down. He did all he could to help Edward even if it was saving him from himself. And Edward. Bless his heart. He was trying so hard in situations he knew nothing or not much about. And being without Kit was devastating. It about broke my heart. But even Kit has a few tricks up his sleeves.
I’m telling you this story is packed full of suspense and nail biting pages. The whole series has just been different and amazing and I have loved every second. I feel like there could be another book in the making. If so, I can’t wait. I recommend this series and this book wholeheartedly. And on a side note…..these are the cutest flipping covers ever!!
