A warm welcome to author Patricia Logan joining us to share an exclusive excerpt of her new release “Thin Blue”.
“I… ah… I meant I’m sorry I interrupted your date.”
“We weren’t on a date,” Pope said, frowning deeply as he hooked a thumb at the door. “I don’t even know that guy. He’s friends with one of the guys at my station.”
“A gay friend from your station?”
Pope laughed and Felix was surprised at how beautiful it sounded. He really needed to learn how to coax more laughter out of Pope because his deep dimples and hazel eyes that looked more brown than green tonight as they danced with amusement, were just gorgeous.
“Trust me when I tell you. Vicki—my friend from the station—ain’t gay. He chases brunettes and I don’t mean guys. He likes them tall and statuesque. If they’re taller than he is, he’s even happier about it. And, if they have a great rack like your date out there, he’s gonna be all over them.”
“My date?” Felix asked. Shit. Pope had seen him laughing with Jules. He must have been doing a really good impression of a straight guy if he’d been that convincing but the truth was, Jules was one of those women who was really easy to like and he had been having a good time. “I think you know Jules isn’t my date.”
Pope stepped closer so that Felix had to crane his neck to look up at him. “How would I know she’s not your date? You two looked pretty chummy out there and I don’t know anything about you. Are you bi?”
Felix’s mouth fell open and he shook his head slightly. “No. I’m not bi but I think I told you I’m not out either. That pretty girl out there was asked along by my sister who happens to be the nosy chick sitting across the table from me. Linda—my sister—has been trying to fix me up with a woman because my very Catholic family thinks I should get married because for some goddamned reason twenty-five seems to mean I’m past the expiration date for young men in my family. I have cousins that are barely out of high school already married and having kids so I’m an anomaly of some sort.” He was waving his hands but when he got on a tangent, he couldn’t help it. It’s what he did. “It sucks but that’s my family and now you’ve seen the result. I have to go out there and sit down and finish the meal and then I have to take that pretty woman home and kiss her on the cheek even though she’s going to expect me to kiss her mouth which I can’t do because I’m a flaming homosexual! Do you get that?”
Pope was staring at him. Felix couldn’t really describe the expression on his face. Apparently, he was doing that rambling thing again. Suddenly, both of Pope’s hands shot out and he grabbed Felix’s biceps. He was yanked off his feet and dragged up against a rock-hard chest. A heartbeat later, Pope’s mouth was on his, as hot and hard and as needy as anything he’d ever felt. Felix was drawn into the kiss and he returned it greedily, wrapping his arms around Pope and holding him close. He felt like he’d been sucked into some giant vortex of hot, claiming lust and it overwhelmed him with desire. Pope’s tongue slid into Felix’s mouth and did a frantic claiming dance that left Pope no doubt that he had been very wrong about whom he wanted.
