A warm welcome to author C.S Poe who is joining us today to talk about the audio release of Color of You.
C.S. is sharing with us journal entries from Alan and also brought a giveaway for our readers!
Welcome C.S. 🙂
Hello, everyone! I’m C.S. Poe, and you may know me as the author of gay mystery, romance, and paranormal books, such as Southernmost Murder, Joy, and the Snow & Winter series. I’m so happy to be here at Love Bytes with the third stop of my mini blog tour for the audiobook of my first full-length, contemporary romance novel, Color of You, narrated by the ever incredible and supremely talented, Greg Tremblay.
Color of You is a small town romance. Our hero, Bowen Merlin, is a recent transplant to Lancaster, New Hampshire, from New York City. He’s the regional high school’s new band director. Bowen meets Alan Hansen, a promising fifteen-year-old clarinetist, and through Alan, Felix, his single father and the love interest for the story.
As I discussed on previous posts, I really loved the character of Alan, and I can’t imagine the novel having been successful without him. He brings an awful lot of heart and soul to not only the plot, but is, in part, the reason the romantic arc is so wonderfully intimate. So I thought, a great way to celebrate the audiobook would be to share journal entries made by Alan! I’d say these are pretty spoiler-free, they take place before the story and just after the start of it. If you’re new to Color of You, I hope you’ll be intrigued to pick up a copy!

Oh my God we’re still at the fucking orchard. I love my dad, but sometimes he loses track of time and now it’s late and I want to go home. He went to Eatery to pick up our takeout, then we can leave.
So. Hungry.
And yes, I know I’m in a gift shop surrounded by food. But it’s all apple flavor and the saying is, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, not a dozen apples a day. I can only handle so much apple.
Daaaaaaaaaaad….

Quick update from my phone during lunch.
For fucking real, Mr. Merlin is promoting me to first chair. And he’s giving us better holiday music, and he even asked why I wasn’t in his music composition class. Like… what? What universe did I accidently fall into in order to impress a musician like him?
He brought his cello to school today and I heard him playing. He’s so fucking good.
And I impress him?
What the fuck!

Dad.
Went.
Out.
On a date.
Dad.
Date.
Uh…. I don’t even know what else to say. He wouldn’t say with who. But he hasn’t gone out since I was little. It’s confirmed. I am in some weird Twilight Zone. Send help.
-Alan
Color of You:
Bowen Merlin—yes, that’s his real name—accepts a position in the quaint town of Lancaster, New Hampshire, as the high school band director. He leaves New York City for the snowy countryside of New England just in time for the holidays. With class, homework, after-school activities, and a surprise Christmas concert to plan and rehearse, Bowen is plenty busy. And since he’s never had much luck with romance, factoring in time to find Mr. Right isn’t a priority….
Until he meets the proprietor of Snowy Ridge Apple Orchard, Felix Hansen. Suddenly, true love seems like a possibility for the first time in Bowen’s life. The two are a perfect match and fill the skipped beats of each other’s hearts. But as wonderful as Felix seems, he’s harboring scars that could end their budding relationship when someone in town goes to great lengths to sabotage their careers.
If Bowen is to survive the holidays, he’ll need to lean on old friends and new, convince Felix he’s worth any hardship, and prove they can come out of the catastrophe stronger if they do so together.
