BLURB:
Becoming best friends at an early age, Corbin and Hunter were inseparable. Where one went, the other followed. As years passed, their friendship blossomed into something more and both boys fell madly in
love. Corbin loved Hunter’s quirkiness and obsession with Shakespeare, and
Hunter loved Corbin’s goofy personality and kind heart.
But what sounded like the makings of a fairy tale soon turned into a hard dose of reality.
They planned to spend forever together, but when Corbin is accepted into his dream college in California to play football, those plans change. Hunter didn’t want to leave their small, quaint town in Arkansas, and
Corbin didn’t want to stay. The happy future they envisioned comes crashing down around them and their love isn’t enough to keep them together.
After being apart for seven years, a devastating loss brings Corbin back to town, and he and Hunter are forced to re-open old wounds. And with the pain of the past also comes the memory of love and broken promises. Hunter is afraid of getting hurt again, and Corbin just wants a second
chance to make things right.
Second chances rarely happen in life. Can Corbin and Hunter take the opportunity and move forward, or will they remain stuck in the past?
REVIEW:
I’m a sucker for friends to lover’s stories, and I liked this one enough to finish it in a day. It was one of those stories that I needed to know how it ended before I went to bed.
Corbin and Hunter were childhood friends who in their teens turned into lovers. It was supposed to be the two of them forever. But, when Corbin was accepted to a college that was well known for turning out Pro footballer’s he jumped at the chance. The decision caused friction between the boys and Corbin almost turned back, which is when Hunter broke his own heart and did the only thing he could to ensure Corbin followed his dream. This section of the story was so emotional I cried.
Told in the first person with alternating chapters from Corbin and Hunter’s POV’s – the boys come across and loveable souls who needed to follow their chosen paths individually before they could be happy as partners. Corbin has a thing for Shemar Moore – awesome. Anyhow, Corbin channels his heartbreak and works his ass off to become a pro quarterback.
Tragedy brings Corbin back to his hometown, but to move forward with Hunter, both must leave the past behind. Between the wars of words, there are some lovely scenes of reminiscence.
As with all good books obstacles are thrown in which adds to the drama. Also, if you like a story that contains lots of sex, you’re going to love this, because regardless of their issues, the boys have desires that can only be sated by the other. The term, ‘let’s have sex, but we need to talk – we can’t do this again’ comes to mind.
Got to admit, I preferred the first part as that’s where the lion’s share of the angst is, and I’m an angst junkie. But, the rest was a pleasure to read too. While some story arcs are expected, I found Tangled up in you to be an engaging read that kept me rooted to the pages.
