The Reunion:
Gil Davis hated high school. Ever the geek, he has no intentions of attending his 10th year class reunion. The last thing he wants is to relive the taunting and teasing he received during his teenage years. However, there is one thing he misses from high school: the star Varsity football player. The one he had a crush on from the first day he laid eyes on him. But the last thing he expects is the now pro football player to come back to their home town to attend a lame high school reunion. Known as the Bad Boy of the NFL, Ripley “Rip” Cord, not only shows up, but shows up without a date and an eye for Gil.
The Weekend:
Geek Gil Davis hasn’t heard a word from NFL player, Rip Cord, since hooking up at their class reunion. Then Rip calls him unexpectedly, he’s taking Gil to his cabin for a weekend of exploration.
The Ever After:
When Rip Cord is kicked out of the NFL, he shows up unexpectedly at Gil Davis’ front door. With his career over, Rip’s finally ready for a future with Gil, if Gil’s willing to give him another chance.
NOTE: The Rip Cord trilogy was previously published as three separate novellas. It has now been combined into one edition. This is a gay second chance romance with a guaranteed HEA.
REVIEW:
First I want to say I am really glad I didn’t read these books separately! I would really have felt like I was left hanging and a bit disappointed to be honest.
For me this book is a complete novel, not a book that is built from three separate stories. The three parts are honestly way too short and there is too little story for them to be split up.
The first part, The Reunion, is sexy and has quite a bit of a surprise angle there. When we first meet Gil and Rip and when they meet each other as they say 😉
It is sexy and hot and it makes you interested for sure in reading more. It is kind of introduction yet also a bit more that has you off to a very nice and sexy good start.
The second part , The Weekend, I liked a little less in the beginning chapters. It is a very domineering Rip and not in a nice or comfortable way. But Gil is okay with it all and doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable with it so I guess it was me as the reader who felt that way.
The ending is surprising though and shows a totally different side of Rip which I honestly really liked. It came on very unexpectedly and that made it just that much sweeter and nicer.
The final part, The Ever After, is a very nice addition to this story and it does indeed have the HEA mentioned in the blurb, so me saying that is not a spoiler. The author really does have a very nice way of making that happen. There are some serious feelings and emotions during this part and I have to say it gave me an overall happy feeling after finishing this book.
It is very pleasant to read how Gil and Rip work through the things that happened. It’s also wonderful to read how they handle the “possible” future and also dealing with what comes after.
I also very much enjoyed the epilogue so overall I can say if you are looking for a very hot sexy story with a nicely done HEA this is a book for you.
