Be careful what you wish for….
Once upon a time there was a totally ordinary boy who fell for a cold, beautiful prince. Only it’s not a fairy tale, it’s my life. The prince is a billionaire called Caspian Hart. And we’re trying super hard to live happily ever after.
He’s everything I want, need, and can’t resist: a man who looks like a god and bangs like the devil. Except he’s still got his rules and he’s still got his secrets….
But if there’s one thing Caspian’s taught me it’s that you should never settle for less than you’re worth. And I’m worth his trust. I have to show him that I see him. That I’m not afraid of his passion, or his power, or his past. And that I won’t settle for less than everything.
NOTE: This book ends on a cliffhanger! See how Arden and Caspian’s love story ends in the third book, coming Summer 2018!
REVIEW:
Again, don’t judge a book by its title!
I fell in love with vivacious, insecure Arden St. Ives and stoic, mysterious Caspian Hart in the first installment of this series, How to Bang a Billionaire. Now they’re back in How to Blow It with a Billionaire, working on building a relationship despite the obstacles that get thrown their way—well, sort of. Things definitely ratchet up in this next book as Arden tries to find his place in the world and bits and pieces of Caspian’s secretive life come to light.
Readers get to see much more of Arden’s circle of friends, especially his bestie from college. Not wanting to reveal too much, this is a bit of a departure from the angst of Arden and Caspian’s relationship as the focus shifts temporarily to Arden “across The Pond.” A significant portion of the book is spent on this particular event, and I can’t help but think that perhaps this character will become a major player again later in the series. We also see more of Caspian’s sister, Ellory, who just may be one of my favorite characters ever. Her irreverent, “emo” attitude coupled with the many surprising facets of her personality make her fascinating and fun to watch. Additionally, her devotion to Arden is endearing and well placed, making her lovable despite her surly exterior.
Then there’s Caspian, still mysterious and broody. However, another compelling prologue has shown up in this second book, peeling away just a few more layers of his past. Not only that, but important characters in Caspian’s life are introduced, creating further intrigue and offering extended glimpses into who Caspian might be and what sort of pain he has endured.
How to Blow It with a Billionaire is difficult to review without divulging too much of the plot. Suffice to say, Caspian and Arden are even hotter and more engaging in this sequel, and the little bits the reader is fed regarding the enigma of Caspian’s past are captivating and provocative. As the blurb indicates, this one ends on quite the cliffhanger. Unfortunately, according to Amazon, the pre-orders for the Arden St. Ives #3 won’t be released until February of 2019. That’s a long wait for fans of the series, but chances are it will be worth it.
NARRATION REVIEW:
As I stated in my review for the first book, Joel Leslie is perfect in his performance of Arden and Caspian’s story. He brings an incredible range of emotion to the author’s words, and I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy listening to him bring this series to life. He’s a forever favorite of mine!
