Peirs had accepted his life of servitude to an angel. His keeper asked only for a willing body, and in exchange his needs were met and he was fed and clothed. Peirs might have served the angel forever—it was the only life he knew—but one day Peirs discovered something he had no way to plan for. After a millennium, he was pregnant. Peirs now must summon the courage to escape his master and the unbendable angelic law that declared no half-breeds should live, but running into an angelic soldier in the back room of a bar wasn’t part of his plan.
After years of begging to go to the battlefields on Earth, Tabbis, the youngest angel in Heaven, finally got his assignment. Ready for heroics and bloodshed, he was stunned when he found enchanting and seductive Piers instead. Tabbis was duty bound to kill Peirs, but Peirs’s very existence challenged everything Tabbis thought he knew.
Tabbis needs answers. Peirs wants nothing more than to save his baby and live in peace. Can they band together to help each other? Or will the wrath of Heaven tear them apart?
REVIEW:
This was a REALLY good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters seemed like they have struggles like every day people, even though they are angels, demons and such. It had a good reminder too, that greed is not a good thing.
Tabbis is what is considered a ‘baby’ angel. Even though he hundreds of years old. He has begged for years to be allowed to come to Earth and rid the world of demons. To fight for the good. But he’s been told no, until now. But he runs into a problem. Piers. Piers is neither Angel nor demon and Tabbis doesn’t quite know how to handle it. Every part of his training says to kill him, but the more Piers keeps telling him he’s not a demon, along with other information, Tabbis can’t kill him. In fact, he’s falling for him. He feels something with Piers he’s never felt before. But Piers isn’t very trusting. After witnessing the annihilation of his race by angels, he was whicked away by one and held as a slave for many years. Finally escaping, he’s been on the run and doing anything he can to survive and keep his baby safe. But being an Incubus is not easy. It leaves him thirsting more often than not. Until he met Tabbis. Tabbis fills him in ways he’s never been filled. Maybe he can take a chance and open Tabbis’s eyes to what’s really happening and find a way to finally go back home to Eden.
Piers was just the most amazing character. He went from being newly born, to watching the destruction of his race, to being whisked off as a slave, all within a matter of moments. He’s been abused, pretty much raped, and treated like a dog. His master suppressed his nature and wouldn’t let him near anyone. Being an Incubus, he was miserable. Plus no one deserves to be treated that way. He finally got a chance to escape and took it. But not without a price. He basically has a pimp to get him the energy he needs to survive. But he’s still a fighter. He still keeps going. Especially now that he’s pregnant. He has everything to live for and a chance to bring back his race. Throughout this book, he’s had to face obstacle after obstacle. Everyone seems to want to kill him. But he is so brave. He keeps going in the hopes that it will get better. And I admire his character so much.
Knowing how this book has ended, it makes me so ready for this next one. It’s not a cliffhanger per se, but if I’m reading right, there’s some very interesting developments on the horizon.
