Set in the Regent’s Park pack world:
Clapham Common—a new pack with their own set of problems…
Shifter Aaron Harper gets drawn into illegal underground fighting to keep an eye on his best friend. The thrill of the fight keeps him coming back for more, but discovery could mean imprisonment and banishment from their pack. Without a beta to watch over them, common sense takes a back seat.
Michael Archer of the Shifter Crimes Task Force is investigating recent murders. Despite the brutal cause of death pointing to the work of a shifter’s claws, instinct tells him a well-known nightclub owner is involved, but they have no proof.
Aaron and Michael’s paths cross after another body with the same injuries is discovered. With Aaron finding himself on the wrong side of the SCTF and Michael looking for a killer, any attraction between them is both ill-advised and unlikely. But fate has other ideas.
REVIEW:
Wooo! This is definitely another world I want to dig into, if this book is any indicator. I loved this book. The thrills of the shifter call to me again lol. Seriously, though, I haven’t read any other part of this world yet, but I want to. The characters in this book were all I wanted them to be. Good and kind but tough and ass-kicking at the same time. They love their pack and do everything for their pack. The alpha is a good one. He doesn’t abuse anyone or allow anyone to abuse them. Good, good book.
Aaron knows fighting is wrong, especially bare knuckled fighting, but the adrenaline calls to his wolf. He also keeps doing it to keep an eye on his best friend Harry, who keep gambling when he shouldn’t be. So he ‘fakes’ being human and fights. But this time something has gone wrong. The opponent he fought has wound up dead, and Aaron is looking like a suspect. Not to mention if the special shifter police force really push it, he and Harry will end up in shifter jail. But his alpha, Sam, said to trust him and so he will. What he didn’t expect on top of it all, was to feel the connection he did to the main office in charge. Michael is calling to his wolf and it’s hard to hold back. Knowing he shouldn’t get involved with him doesn’t help. Michael comes to him and his pack for help to catch this serial killer and tensions between them mount. Despite having said he’d fight no more, Aaron goes back to the ring to help. As more clues are found, what they find is horrible. Hopefully, they will be able to stop it all in time and maybe explore their chemistry more before someone ends up dead.
Aaron was just so special. And they way he looks after Harry just endeared me even more. But when I found out about his past…..yeah, waterworks. Front and center. I can’t give it away, but yeah. He’s just a special guy. So when he and Harry had to go before, Sam, their alpha, and tell them what they had been doing when they found out about Aaron’s dead opponent, oh I was biting my nails. And that’s just gross so that should tell you lol. Aaron felt so ashamed and guilty and so bad and he was shrinking down in his seat from it. And you just wanted to beat Sam up even though Sam was being gentle with them lol. I’m such a sap. I love the little guys. And yeah, I was loving Sam too. Such a good alpha. He recognized that the pack was missing a beta and tried to quickly fill that role but when he realized he goofed, he immediately fixed it. All for the good of his babies. And the beta he filled in was the perfect one for them. That’s the sign of a good leader. I just loved these guys so much. When faced with the serial killer they did what they did best, they took them down. But all while protecting everyone the best they could.
So recommend this book! Get it get it. Get involved in the world they are in and learn all about the characters. I can’t wait for more from this pack either. Sam, Issac and Harry need their turns now.
