Cole Renzo thinks his greatest challenge is to behave for the remainder of his term at Halfway House. Until he meets his new boss, Ty Calloway, a man who ticks off every box on Cole’s list of interests.
A sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars, Ty had enough confidence to command what he wanted in life, until one fateful night changed everything. Almost two years later, he’s slowly rebuilding his life with great control. He’s defied the odds and works tirelessly to be the man he once was—but he still feels broken.
Cole’s candor and unfiltered personality awaken Ty’s barely-remembered desire to greet each new day with a smile, while Ty’s unwavering acceptance of Cole’s quirks and brash humor makes Cole feel as if he fits in for the first time in far too long. When a nemesis threatens Ty’s personal restoration and the things he holds dear, Cole is determined to protect their relationship, even if that means sacrificing everything he’s worked so hard to achieve.
But Ty will have to let his guard down, surrender control, and admit he needs Cole first, even if that puts himself at risk of breaking beyond repair.
REVIEW:
I loved this book. It was everything I didn’t know I was in the mood for. Add in some Greg Tremblay and I was in heaven for the hours I spent listening to Cole and Ty’s story.
Ty Calloway is sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars. Two years ago an horrific accident changed his life forever and he’s fought tooth and nail to get better, but he still feels cut off from everything and everything and don’t even remember what it is to smile anymore. All that changed when agreed to offer a parolee a job during the last part of his sentence.
Cole Renzo was going to work on cars again. And if he could keep out of trouble i.e. not breaking any laws, for the next few months, he was going to get his most prised possessions back – his late brother’s car. Cole captured my heart from the very beginning. He’s just the kind of character I love reading about; sweet, a bit down on his luck, but even better he had no brain-to-mouth filter and is a bit clueless to social interactions. I loved him for his bluntness; there was absolutely no malice in him even though what came out of his mouth wasn’t always phrased in the best way. He had this ginormous heart and an energy that made everyone around him feel good – me included. All in all he was perfect for the quiet and dented Ty.
These two were perfect for each other; they complemented and built each other up. I loved watching how Ty grounded Cole and how Cole made Ty come out of his shell and start living again. Add in some great side characters and this book was definitely a hit for me.
Another thing that I loved with this book was the banter between all the characters. It just added to the feel of the book, these characters and it made it very difficult to stop listening and do other stuff (like sleeping).
Greg Tremblay was amazing as always. The feels he brings to his narrations are always spot on. He brings you into the story, and all the while you are listening to his wonderful voice you are there in that world, living with Ty and Cole, working on cars – even though I’m as handy as a hammer is to a dolphin. Tremblay made me believe that for the past hours I knew everything about cars – even how to steal them 😉
Needless to say, I had a blast.
I only have one problem after finishing this book, and that is that none of the other books in the series is available in audio! They absolutely need to be, because A Restored Man was great. Highly recommended.
