BLURB:
Meet the Beteferoce brothers: five dragon shifters, each with a strong elemental power. And each with a fierce desire to find his soul mate…
He said he was flying on a silver dragon. He called me “Markus-meine.” Who would know all that? Who? And how?
SWAT cop and dragon shifter Mark Beteferoce had—and lost—a soul mate. He’s finally at the point where he can get through the days without thinking about what used to be…until he tastes Quincy O’Brien’s doughnuts and takes him home to play.
Quincy O’Brien is a gifted baker, but at night he dreams of soaring through the sky on dragonback and being topped by the perfect Dom. Mark satisfies the kinky urges Quincy has only explored in his subconscious, pushing his limits and caring for him afterward.
From the start, their connection was more than sexual. It’s known; it’s familiar somehow. And it’s slowly driving Mark insane. What shouldn’t be possible most certainly is, and the bond between himself and Quincy runs deeper than either of them could ever have realized.
REVIEW:
Wow, if I thought book three of this series was a little too easy, this latest installment of the Dragon Soul series made up for that in spades!
I have to start out by saying that I was super excited to read this one; I’ve been looking forward to Mark’s story ever since he was first introduced and you learn that he’d found his soulmate first of all the Beteferoce men but then lost him to murder. Mark has since closed himself off, sticking to one night stands and barely interacting with his own family. The only way he even manages to get through some days is by shoving the anguish of his bondmate’s loss as far down inside as he possibly can. Finding himself drawn to Quincy O’Brien, and the man’s irresistible donuts, is quite a surprise but learning that the man is his soulmate reborn almost sends Mark down a mental and emotional spiral he can’t recover from.
What follows is difficult for both men; Mark has trouble coming to grips with the idea that his soulmate has come back to him while continuing to battle the hurt he’s lived with for decades. Quincy, in the meantime, begins battling his own inner demons as memories of his past life begin insinuating themselves into his dreams; dreams that start out pleasant but end less so as the recollection of his murder inevitably turns them into nightmares. Despite their rocky beginning, Mark and Quincy do eventually straighten themselves out and begin a relationship, though one colored by events of the past.
The kink level in this was much more intense than in the past couple of books; there was even a toy utilized that I had to google because I was unfamiliar with it. (That was some interesting research lol) Mark and Quincy love hard and play hard; Quincy knows who he is and what he wants and has no problems in asking for it. (or begging as the case may be) As such, while not the hardest bdsm play I’ve read in a book, it could be a little much for someone who prefers their kink play on the lighter side. I really liked the book though; I’m just thrilled that the one book I was totally invested in reading for this series didn’t let me down in any way! I would highly recommend this to anyone that’s read the previous books in the series and while you could probably get away with reading it on its own, I think you’d get more out of it by reading the series in order. I will definitely be reading this one again in the future.
