Ashley Byrne only wants one thing in life: To finish his tattoo apprenticeship and fulfill his dream of owning his own shop. In the meantime, he spends his nights partying, flirting, and having sex. After all, what else is there for him to worry about? Aside from his hair and his clothes, not much. He’s hot, and rest assured no one knows it better than him. He’s also used to getting what he wants – until he meets Felipe Navarro.
Fee Navarro has everything he needs: A great IT job, a nice apartment, and all the high-tech toys his geeky heart could ever want. He doesn’t do casual, and he knows guys like Ash are nothing but. Ash may burn hot for Fee, but Fee isn’t willing to take a chance on a vain, little party boy with too many tats and an oversized ego. He wants someone to share his life with, and he won’t settle for anything less. Too bad Ash has never been the type to give up easily. He has a plan, and he’s not stopping until he proves he’s more than just a pretty face – he’s someone worthy of winning Fee’s heart.
REVIEW:
This book has been on my wishlist for a really long time and I’m sad that there aren’t any more that follow it. I was intrigued by the guide book premise which I thought was quirky and unique.
Ash is an unapologetic party boy and has no intention of giving up his party ways or his one night stand policy. He’s about as allergic to commitment as a person can be. That is until he meets Felipe while helping his brother move.
Fee is the poster guy for commitment and wants none of Ash’s short term attention. It’s hard to resist though when Ash does everything he can think of for Fee to notice him.
They have some obstacles to overcome like Ash’s past as well as his tendency to become possessive of Fee.
This story was the classic opposites attracted couple trope with Fee being the hot geek who doesn’t want to be involved with Ash who’s a former promiscuous party guy.
I liked the way their relationship developed over time but I did find Ash’s persistent to be on the creepy side rather than romantic. It felt really stalkerish to me. And Fee had the patience of a saint dealing with some of Ash’s antics. I thought the guide book portions were fun and loved the geeky pop culture reference. I also wish the series had been continued as there were some relationship developments between secondary characters I would have liked to know more about.
Paul Morey does a decent job on the narration however sometimes his character voices are difficult to distinguish from one another.
This story was difficult for me to rate because there were parts I definitely didn’t like yet there were also parts I loved. I think this would please people who enjoy quirky humor, low angst, and opposites who are attracted.
