Alpha’s Submission is an MMMM mpreg romance and the second book in the Irresistible Omegas series. It is not a stand-alone but continues the story from the first book. It ends with a HEA for our four men, but the suspense storyline will continue in the next books.
Kat’s Review
I could not wait to get my hands on this book!
When we left off on the last book, the four men made a committed to each other. Now how exactly that was going to work no one knew because, at that precise moment, Vieno’s excruciating heat began. But Lidon’s Alpha did and it all came together. It might have been easier for Lidon, Vieno and Palani but Enar not so much. He had always known that he was suppose to be an Alpha but it never resonated deep inside him. He would walk the walk and talk the talk but it was at a great personal cost to him internally. How could he turn his back on what was expected of him to be? What he desired deep inside to be?
What I truly enjoyed watching unfold was the struggle that Enar had with himself and how he perceived himself. He was born an Alpha and that was who/what he was expected to be. But it wasn’t who he was inside and the struggles that he had with his inner thoughts were devastating to witness. I know that many people struggle with who they are born as. I think that this was a great tribute to all the people that struggle with their gender and how they are accepted or not. Enar had a safe zone to finally try out what he needed. Especially with Palani’s love, support and insight. But it was truly difficult to let go of the belittling comments that his Dad had thrown at him his entire life. With the love and help of all three men he was finally allowed to explore, in the open, with the sanctuary of the ranch, his inner self. It was so beautiful to watch him evolve into the person he truly was meant to be.
This book, and series, are tackling some pretty tough and relevant issues. Government corruptions heads the top of this list. How political parties can invade and influence the lawmakers and how that corruption affects the community. Health care for all. How status and privilege dictates the availability of proper and decent health care. How scientists have the audacity to experiment on unknowing, desperate people without regard to the consequences just infuriate me. Gender expectations, how society views you and their reactions when things are challenged. Polyamorous relationships and how they are treated by their peers. Nora Phoenix did not shy away from the tough issues and this book reflects that completely.
Typically, this is so not a book for me. I am a gay romance junkie. I can go for many different sub-genre’s but fantasy/science fiction/shifters are not a go-to for me. However, I am such a fan of Nora Phoenix’s writing, add in the fact that she does famulous polyamorous matings, and yes…she has me hooked! I may not understand all the nuisances that go with wolf shifters, of which these men have evolved from, but I love the relationships that they all have with each other and as a whole. I loved their “motto”, for lack of a better phrase, “They were four and they were one…and they were unbreakable together.”
I am really looking forward to the next book in this series. I have no idea how many more books that she has planned (hopefully several since there are so many complex issues swirling) but you can rest assured that I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book after that final sentence. I don’t know if you would actually call this a “cliffhanger” (and we all know how patient I am with those…imitates Lidon’s Alpha Roar…Grrrrrrrr!) but, thankfully, Nora is pretty darn fast with her next book in a series.
I know you are as surprised as I am that I am recommending a “Shifter” book/series but these are so much more and are just too important and thought provoking to past up!
Becca’s REVIEW:
This series has gotten better with this book. I was intrigued with the first one, but the elements of danger, corruption and so on, have brought this book and series to a whole new levels. Plus, the dynamics of the relationship have changed and brought out some aspects that make things a lot more interesting.
Things have finally seemed to settle somewhat now that they have all decided that this relationship is right. The four of them together have never felt more right. Or does it? Vieno is so happy. He feels like he is finally grounded. And he’s making the ranch home. But the other three are having problems. Palani has stumbled on some findings in his research that has brought danger to everyone. And the bad guys are striking out. Even at home. Lidon is accused of falsifying reports and suspended, but he’s also had to learn something about himself he never knew. With people being forced to come to the ranch for safety and shelter, Lidon has learned about his heritage and legacy and what his powers really are. And Enar, has finally had to come to grips with who he really is and his part in this relationship. He’s also being forced to give up his practice. As the heat pushes these four to drastic measures, they learn who they really are to each other and the world around them. It’s a struggle to stand against the world, but they feel it’s time for a change. They just hope they make it through alive and together.
Whew, things have heated up with this book. Threats from all sides are pushing in against them, trying to shut them down from all sides. But even more so, their relationship has taken on a whole new dynamic. Enar I felt the worst for. His upbringing and his brain keeps pushing that he’s an alpha and he’s a failure for not being one, but his nature screams beta. And he has to come to grips with who he really is and who he is in this relationship. He has to take a good hard look at himself and how he really felt about everyone. Yes, he was born an alpha, but he felt beta and he had to let go of all the fears and guilt and the putdowns of his father and just be himself. He had to finally accept the love and not be afraid to give the love he felt. It was a hard, hard lesson for him. And one he is still trying to learn. With Lidon learning about his true self and his powers, it gave Vieno his as well. Both of them discovered more about themselves as well and their roles. The legacies and all it entails. And Vieno is blossoming perfectly. He is finally free and can be the omega he’s meant to be. He has learned his true place is the core of all of them. That without him, they cease to be who they are and it’s ready for him. Palani has a place now where he truly belongs himself. He is powerful in his own way because he sees things that others often do not. He is the eyes and ears when Lidon can’t be and his astuteness is a thing to behold.
I really cannot wait to see where this series leads. This book wasn’t a cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you hanging in a sense where anticipation will drive you nuts lol. Make sure, though, if you have not read book 1, read it first. This is not a standalone. I can’t wait for book 3.
