A 26th century, time-traveling, bounty hunter snatchs a 18th century Earth pirate in a deal to enrich the archaeological knowledge of mankind, but as he develops an attraction for the likable, free-spirited prey, he attempts to alter the deal, threatening both his own personal code of honor and the strict rules of conduct of his race. Will the love of a wily, cock-sure, young pirate be enough for the stoic hunter to risk exile from his own people?
REVIEW:
This book was pretty good. Something different. I love sci-fi and need to read it more often. I really enjoy it.
Aiden was the youngest pirate in his position. Captain of his own ship. Leading his crew into raid after raid. But some of his crew don’t like his ways. And they form a mutiny, killing off his supporters and then throwing him overboard, shackled and tied to a barrel. At the moment he knows he’s dying, someone saves him. He thinks it’s a sea god that he worships and gives sacrifices to, but it’s actually a bounty Hunter sent to find him. Talos saves Aiden at the latest minute. Talos has been sent back in time to retrieve Aiden from someone in his time who has bought him. Thinking Aiden is this horrible pirate, Talps can’t wait to get rid of him. But the more time he spends with Aiden, the more he realizes Aiden isn’t what he was made out to be. And now Talos wants something more. But will it be worth it to risk all he knows and all the rules he abides by for this human?
This book has me laughing so much. Aiden is a trip. He’s such a pistol. But I also felt sorry for him. First he was a pirate, the youngest captain ever, then he’s dead and the next time he opens his eyes, he’s in another time and place. He still thinks he’s dead. When he realizes he really isn’t, he’s so lost. He tries to hide behind flirting and things but he’s fearful. He knows someone has bought his life and that he is now owned and he is determined to not be put in that position again. Talos is having just as hard of a time. Still grieving the loss of his younger brother, who he feels like died because of him, capturing this pirate has brought some chemistry to his skin. Aiden has a smell that he has never smelled before and it’s bringing his body on high alert. And he doesn’t know what to do about it or himself. Because of the rules of the Hunt, he’s not supposed to do anything with Aiden, but every instinct is telling him to mate and claim him. It’s a struggle to fight against his instincts and what he was brought up to do.
This was definitely a different read. Even the sex was different. Being that Talos isn’t human after all. And I love different. Jumping in to see where the next book leads. Happy reading!
