BLURB:
A Robin Hood conman, a cursed King and a brutal spell…
Flynn Stegman doesn’t love his life as a thief, but his nephew’s expensive asthma medication isn’t going to buy itself. Besides, after this last job, he won’t have to work again. The payoff is huge, but the danger involved is life-threatening.
By impersonating another man, Flynn infiltrates the island of the recently discovered diamond dragons. He just needs to stay under the radar long enough to find the item he’s been hired to steal and to get out. Preferably before he’s found out and flung off the nearest cliff.
King Sebastian has spent the last five years in mourning. A horrible curse robbed him of his true love during childbirth and he can’t shake the grief long enough to run his country. Thankfully, his sister, the Guardian Princess Sorsha has taken control of the kingdom and keeps an eye on his daughter, but there is unrest, and a powerful old enemy is using that unrest to try to take the king’s power.
When Flynn accidentally saves the King’s daughter, his plan of staying out of sight goes horribly wrong. Five years old and full of more book smarts than should be possible in a kid her age, the little Princess has been left mostly on her own in the castle, until now. Flynn can now add, manny to a pint-sized Princess, to the list of things he’s endured while on a job.
Sebastian can’t manage to ignore his daughter’s new manny, he feels a pull toward the man that Sebastian thought he would never feel again. A dragon doesn’t get two mates, so then why does Sebastian’s inner beast long for the sly human? Whatever the reason, Sebastian finds that simply being near Flynn is bringing him out of his grief, making him whole again. So, when he discovers that Flynn may not be who he says he is—and may actually be working with his most dangerous enemy—he’s torn between protecting the man he loves or protecting his kingdom.
The Diamond Dragon’s Manny Mate is the second book in the Jeweled King Curse series. It may be read and fully enjoyed as a standalone. In this book, you will find excitement, magic, romance and love with a HEA while two men find their true fated mates.
REVIEW:
I didn’t get to read the first one yet, so I’m glad this can be read as a standalone. I hate missing any of Kiki’s books. She’s done it again with a new series with dragons. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. You can’t go wrong with dragons.
Flynn knows he’s shouldn’t be doing what he’s doing, but he has people to care for…even if his sister gives him grief over it. But he figures if he can pull off this one job, just this one more, then his sister and nephew will be set and there will be no more worrying about his nephew’s medical bills. He is getting messages from someone, telling him he needs to travel to the Diamond Island and he will know what he’s looking for when he sees it. So he gets a fake ID with a new name and sets about trying to get a job on the island. He does, but it’s not what he expected so it puts him in a bind…for a minute. What he doesn’t expect is who he runs into. He gets to meet the King head on, and it’s not a pleasant experience. But something about the King is pulling Flynn. When he next runs into the King’s only daughter, it’s sets him on a course he had a feeling would get him in trouble. But he couldn’t stop. When he becomes the Manny of the Princess, there’s no way to stay out of sight and do this job. He tries to a point, but at a dance, suddenly things shift. For bad and good. Flynn’s plot is uncovered, he gets mated, and the kingdom gets ready for war. Not knowing which way is up, Flynn has to come to terms that he may have just signed his death sentence. And the King has to deal with the fact that he may lose another mate when no one thought it possible.
Well this was packed with some suspense. And Flynn was stuck in the middle in ways he didn’t want to be. He wasn’t thinking of love, or finding a mate, or anything else, except doing a job that would help his family for years to come. He knows being a thief and a conman isn’t the right thing to do, but it’s all he’s really known since he was really young. Having to take care of his sister and keep them together was all he could do. He was too young to get a job, so he did what he was good at. This last job was supposed to be it for him. He could breathe knowing his sister and nephew were going to be cared for. He nephew could get his medical treatment. That’s all that matters. But being on this island has set things in motion he never dreamed of. There was a pull to the King, after a bad intro, that he couldn’t stop. He has become so attached to the little Princess. And everything starts to fall apart. He feels like he’s failed. He knows he has. He’s come to terms with death. But what he doesn’t realize is the King can never let him go now. After a passion filled interlude, they are mates. Neither understands. Especially since Sebastian was already mated before. I’m telling you, I don’t know who I felt more sorry for here. Shew. Just when Sebastian is finally starting to breathe again after grieving for so long, plots against his kingdom, another mate, and a war are being laid in his lap. On top of trying to rebuild a kingdom he’s neglected for so long. Including his kid.
What a mess. And I let you in on something, that’s not all that happens lol. This book is filled with stuff happening. And it’s a very good ride. One that I couldn’t put down. And now I have to go get the first one and read it! Happy reading.
