REVIEW:
I just knew going into this novella that it was going to be a sad one with snot and ugly tears. I pretty much also knew how it was going to end by just reading the blurb. So stocking up on tissues I started reading this wonderful story about love and loss.
The opening scene of this book was pure sweetness. The love these two people had for each other oozed from every word, every touch. True love if there ever was one. Then there were the hurt. The tears. and so much pain. Five long and awful years ago Phoenix lost the love of his life; Gabriel. Lost him to hate. In a senseless crime that in a few moments irrevocably changed his life and left it in darkness and pain.
Just like the love that shone so brightly between Phoenix and Gabriel, so did the pain when he was lost. God that pain. The grief. It was overwhelming. In every word, and breath. For such a short book it sure packed a punch. A punch to the gut. To the heart. I cried for the loss, the unfairness of it all. For the what could have beens. I cried and I cried a lot. And I don’t regret a single second of it.
I absolutely loved this book. I adored Gabriel and Phoenix, and I was there for every moment of this story. For the love, the pain and the rest of it. I felt it all. Anyone looking for a good cry and an angst short story, this is the book for you. And even if you are only looking for a story about that one great love, the love that spans and overcome any distance and obstacle this is the book you want.
Highly recommended!
