An Enchanted Occasions Story
Not exactly a match made in Valhalla.
Half-norn event planner Anders Skuldsson is under strict orders from Asgard not to meddle with Fate. But with Enchanted Occasions’ latest booking—a competition for the hand of Faerie’s one true prince—crashing around his ears, it’s really difficult to toe that particular line. But if Andy pretends to be a contender for the prince…. It’s only temporary, so Odin can’t blame him. Right?
Conall of Odstone’s half-brother, Prince Reyner, was supposed to choose a mate before being crowned and wed. But the idiot left Con to impersonate him. Again.
When Con meets Andy, his anger turns to desire… and despair. Even if Andy forgives him for his imposture, how could someone eligible for a prince’s hand settle for the court outcast? And the double-deception isn’t their only obstacle. Unless Andy makes the right choice, their fates could be sealed by…well… Fate.
REVIEW:
I am loving the Dreamspun Beyond line and Nudging Fate was another great addition. This story was a unique take on a classic trope and I enjoyed my time reading.
The plot was one that has been done a million times and had the potential to be anything from predictable to OTT. In my opinion it was neither. The story moved forward in a pretty methodical fashion which laid everything out perfectly for me to connect with the characters, understand the world, understand motivations, and feel the love developing all while keeping me questing as to what would happen next. Yes, there were some instances of characters reacting exactly like I predicted, but there were just as many instances of them catching me by surprise.
I loved the world and the beings. It was a mix of all kinds of lore, most of which I am not very familiar with. I do wish we would have had more interactions with the supporting characters so I could really learn about their heritages and abilities, but in the end, I got everything I needed to really fall in love with this setting. I want more in this series so I can learn about all the supporting players. They were great and I like them all.
The romance was very well done in my opinion. It was a bit fast at first, but then I was able to see these men getting to know each other and reveal their true selves and I was hooked. I needed these men to find a way to be together and I needed to know how the plot turned out because OMG things could have gone very badly for everyone ruining the HEA.
The overall tone for this story was tense and steady and oh so cute. I loved the feelings I felt as this story moved forward. I was so caught up in it all. And in the end I was so happy things turned out as they did. I was left feeling satisfied and happy. The ending was perfect and the story was oh so cute and perfectly in line with what the Dreamspun Beyond stories are meant to be.
I highly recommend you pick this one up and give it a chance.
