Famous travel blogger returns home to have his life thrown off balance by his high school crush.
Dante Sandford is at the top of his game. He’s paid to travel the world and share his spicy stories on his blog. He’s still young, gorgeous, and confident. When Dante’s high school reunion knocks on his door, he’s reminded of everything he’s lacking. More so when his old crush, Tommy Clancy, makes a pass at him. Or when the hot romance blows in Dante’s face because of his lifestyle.
Tommy has always been the hottest man in Riverbrook. Possibly the world. He’s stunning, smart, and the kindest soul Dante has ever known. He’s also read Dante’s blog along with all his steamy encounters. No wonder Tommy doesn’t trust Dante for anything more than a casual hookup.
Dante returns to hometown Riverbrook to face his past of bullying and feeling like a misfit. He instead ends up dealing with the reality of being a travel blogger: relationships are close to impossible. That won’t stop Dante from trying to convince Tommy his short-lived flings are not by design.
REVIEW:
This has been a good series. I liked this book too. A reminder to find a way to live your dreams. But don’t live your dreams so much you forget people who are important.
Dante ran from his hometown as quick as he could. Having to deal with bullying, even if mild, during his life has been enough. He found a job and ran. While working, he started living his dream. To be a travel blogger. He met his best friends that way and life has been amazing, even if lonely at times. Knowing your boyfriend is gone most of the year kinda turns people off and they don’t want to take a chance on him. But he still has fun. Little does he know how many people actually follow him. When his high school reunion invite comes, he almost doesn’t go, but decides to. And does he get the surprise of his life. His long time crush, Tommy, follows him. But he’s not too impressed with all the flings Dante seems to have. And because of it, the chance for anything more may become nothing ever. Things have to change and words have to be said but are they the right ones?
*Sighs* poor Dante. He’s been happy. Traveling around the world. Staying in the most fabulous places. Getting to meet some of the most fabulous men. Sure life gets lonely but he’s living his dream. Escaping the hell that was his younger life. Just when he thought he’d finally escaped his past, to a point, everything comes back to bite him in the ass. By way of a high school reunion. All the bullying, the comments, the sneers, everything comes to the surface. Including his feelings for the only other LGBT person in his school. The high school heartthrob, his crush, Tommy. He almost doesn’t go but at the last minute decides to. I don’t know how he does it. I couldn’t. Matter of fact, I didn’t lol. Bullying, in any way, is tough. And having to face people, even years later, just makes you feel inferior all over again. Finding out Tommy follows his blog and basically thinks he’s a big ole slut, just makes matters worse. He feels like he will never escape the feeling of never being good enough. Of never fitting in. If he could just prove to Tommy that his life is quite what it seems, maybe things could be different.
Being who you are is important. Some people are never going to accept you no matter what you do. But if the right person comes along, they will accept you. Quirks and all. Just don’t change who you are and conform. (Unless you’re a bad person lol.)
