BLURB:
Letting love pass them by would be a crime.
Former forensic accountant Cameron has lost nearly everyone he’s ever loved, and now his vintage clothing shop has been broken into and trashed. When town police chief Will Carson asks an out-of-town cop friend of his for help, Cam takes one look at the dark-haired, blue-eyed detective and knows he’s in real trouble—and it has nothing to do with vandalism or murder.
Pete Minchelli is on leave from his job in Philadelphia due to a gunshot wound, but he figures he can help an academy buddy with some light police work. Plus, he’ll have a chance to experience small-town life. He’s tired of the big city and all its corruption. But he quickly discovers that not all the bad stuff happens in cities. What he doesn’t expect to find is death, treachery—or love.
REVIEW:
I was really intrigued with the blurb and I was really excited to read the story and see how it went.
I have to say that I Really enjoyed Pete Minchelli. I really enjoyed his character. I felt that as a MC he was everything that you would or could want…he’s kind, consistent, smart and attractive. I liked that Pete had a great sense of duty and of family. Pete is the kind of guy who you’d totally want to be friends with and most definitely the kind of guy that you’d want in your corner if you got in trouble. I love that even that Pete is so down to earth and is just a really good guy.
Cameron…Cameron has a good heart and that makes him so special. He’s loyal and kind…however, he’s very naïve to me. I like that Cameron is a really good guy as well. He lost his father a while ago and just recently lost his mother. He also lost his boyfriend soon after his mother passed away. Cameron had also found out that his boyfriend had possibly been cheating on him as well….Cameron has had a hell of a run and yet, he still holds onto the love and even when his life is turning itself inside out and topsy-turvy…he still holds on to the good in his friends. I think that he’s naïve to me in the sense that even when some of his friends started showing who they were and not respecting him…he allowed that and kept overlooking that behavior. I guess maybe naïve isn’t the word for it…more like distracted with the loss of his mother and boyfriend as well as the selling of her home.
Now the mystery/suspense was ok. I mean, I figured it out early on who the bad guy was and really…after that…it was just up to the MC’s to figure out who the bad guy was. I will give the author credit…she had some good twists in there. I mean, I was taken aback by a few of the things that came out and that was after I knew who the bad guy was. So…good job there.
This was a first time author for me and overall, I liked it. I guess, that once I figured out who the killer it was just a guessing game as to when everyone else would figure it out
