When Omega figure skater Jeff and incognito Alpha Prince Henrik spend one steamy night together at the Olympics, they find themselves with a surprise pregnancy on their hands.
Now, the star crossed lovers must decide what they want. Can Jeff give up his career in America for a family life in Sweden? Can closeted Prince Henrik come out to claim Jeff and their unborn child with a royal wedding?
An Omega too famous to find love.
As an Olympic figure skater, Jeff was known far and wide. He had no problem finding men to date, but finding men that wanted him for himself and not his fame? Not so much.
An Alpha too far from the throne to matter.
As the youngest of four royal siblings, Prince Henrik is used to living in the public eye. But as the head of the Swedish delegation to the Olympic Games, he finds himself in the spotlight more than ever. So when given the chance to sneak into the Olympic Village and attend one of their infamous parties, he takes it.
Just a one-night stand.
Sassy Jeff is more than a match for the hot, tall blond on the dance floor …and in bed. But there’s no chance of them working out. They’re too different, and the Swede has a secret.
Continents apart
Jeff can’t stop thinking about the hot Swede, Henrik, whoever he was. Henrik’s attempts to ease his heartbreak at letting the American go by throwing himself into his official duties do him no good.
When a chance encounter reunites the lovers, it seems like fate has given them a second go at the lives they both yearn for.
Can Prince Henrik tame the skittish figure skater Jeff and prove that their relationship could work, especially with a baby on the way?
REVIEW:
After coming off the Winter Olympics, I am missing my Figure Skating already so this seemed like the perfect pick me up.
Prince Henrik is finally getting to experience something he has always dreamed of… to just be a regular guy that no one knows. Being in South Korea representing the Swedish Royal family is one of his jobs. He is so far down the royal lineage that he isn’t required to do much but he is so recognizable at home and here he can be an unknown and he is really enjoying it. When he and his bodyguard sneak into a party in the Olympic Village he is instantly attracted to the young man with the bubble butt, Jeff – the openly gay American figure skating Bronze mentalist, that is putting on quite the show dancing in the main room. When the chemistry ignites they both realize it’s going to be on heck of a one-night stand. But is it?
The first thing that cries out to me is that this is just a little to close to reality with Jeff. I have no idea how the author got this out so quickly after the Olympics, but Jeff has to be based on Adam Rippon. I just happened to be watching a repeat of him on Stephen Colbert a couple nights before I read this and Jeff is so Adam. And then when Jeff saves his friend from a wardrobe malfunction, yep I bet the two different ice skaters this year wish someone would have save them from their costume breakdown.
I like this book better when Jeff finally arrived in Sweden. The sexting at the Olympics was a bit much especially with the bathroom runs to take penis pictures to text each other. You are representing your country at the Olympics and you run off to take quick dick pics…I don’t think so. And to a stranger you had a one-nighter with – ah No! And don’t get me started on the lack of condom usage. You literally have handfuls and don’t bother to keep using them with a stranger? I know that we needed a valid reason why Jeff got pregnant that one night but a defective condom works for me more. But when they finally expressed who they were and what they wanted and needed it started to pick up for me. My problem was that it seemed slower, more developed storyline and pace at the Olympics and then it was a speed marathon when I wanted it to slow down and let us see how everything was progressing. We jumped from Jeff arriving in Sweden, dinner with the royal family that exposes Henrik as a prince, to Jeff sick and finding out he’s pregnant, them engaged, married and having the baby in rapid succession. There wasn’t even a breather until Jeff fled back home.
I don’t want you to think I hated the story, if fact just the opposite. I just had some fundamental issues with the speed of the story. The thing that I did find distasteful was the ending, or in fact, how I got my sweet ending. A new trend I am seeing and not liking is that to be able to finish the story properly you have to go to an author’s website, sign up for their newsletter and then they send the bonus ending. This was not the first time I have experienced this but I don’t like it! I want the entire story if I purchase a book and I’m pretty sure most readers are this way. I will say that it cost this review part of its rating.
One of the sweet moments I did love was how Prince Henrik was willing to go public about his sexual preference for Jeff. It was very touching and it endeared him to me. And I must say, I literally laughed out loud during the scene where Jeff makes his royal decree! Some of the innuendos in this book are priceless!
All in all, I liked the story but felt it fell short in story development in the second half, which was my favorite half. Cute instant love book about a royal and an Olympic ice skater. Only 3 Hearts because of all the hassle trying to get the end of the story.
