Forced to grow up too fast, he carries the burdens of responsibilities that shouldn’t be his, and it’s slowly destroying him. The more he tries to control, the more out of control he feels.
When he gets a hit on a personal ad he placed on The Boys Club app, he shrugs it off as impossible. With nearly 600 miles between him and “Boston Daddy” he knew the odds were against them. Until Boston Daddy’s current boy convinces him otherwise and persuades Liam to take on the role of Daddy’s new boy.
Saying forty-year-old entrepreneur Cash Moreau is having a bad week is an understatement. The man he’s been with for years leaves him for a new job, his own company is in crisis, and to top it all off, a young stranger shows up on his doorstep with all his worldly possessions, claiming to be his new boy. Liam wants a Daddy to depend on, and Cash refuses to believe he’s what’s best for Liam.
Despite their powerful connection, Cash finally pushes Liam away, and the beautiful boy who stole his heart disappears. Soon, Cash realizes what he’s let slip through his fingers. The elusive thing he’s been searching for is Liam, it’s only ever been Liam, and suddenly Cash will move heaven and earth to find what he’s lost. Will he find his boy in time to make things right, or is it too late to let him in?
REVIEW:
I have loved Luna David’s Custos Securities series and so I jumped for this new series.
Liam is twenty years old and so tired of being the sole breadwinner for his family for the past six years. But he has to make sure his little sister Ciara “CC” is taken care of like he wasn’t. In what little spare time he has between three jobs, he has discovered online that he desires a certain kind of kink. “Daddy Kink” to be precise. He wants, no needs, for a “Daddy” to take over his control and finally let him be the child he never was growing up. After joining a website designed to match people of his kink together he is approached by a “boy” that is moving away from his “daddy” and needs to find him a replacement. After traveling several states to go live with his new “Daddy” Liam discovers that Tommy, the former boy, never informed his daddy Cash of the new replacement. What follows is how these two men react to the meeting and what the future may hold.
I am not sure I am a fan of this Daddy Kink. I get and enjoy BDSM and D/s relationships but this was different. While my heart went out to Liam and his plight I’m not as sold on Cash as I could have been. He is older and experienced so he should have handled things better after he went and got Liam back the first time. But this man was as hard headed and ignorant as they get. I appreciated that he finally realized what he let slip away. A Dom is suppose to care for and be able to read his subs every need. And communication is key in this type of relationship. And maybe this is where I felt that I was incorrect in my assumption that this Daddy Kink a part of the BDSM or D/s world. There is domination and some discipline but not like what I was used to. For the most part it was pretty tame. I didn’t get into the one role play scene but it was a minor part.
What I gained from all this is that trust and communication is the key and these two men really sucked at that for a great portion of the book. I was thankful when Liam’s roommates stepped into make sure he was protected and looked out for him. I look forward to their stories.
What I really and truly appreciated was the writing. The author did not follow the typical writing format but moved it all around and kept me on my toes. Luna David is a very talented writer and a joy to read. I do recommend this story but am still unsure it is a new sub-genre for me or not. But I do need the rest of the boys stories so time will tell if I’m converted or not.
