Rhoades.
Loneliness. The pain doesn’t simply go away with time. It’s been years, and they tell me I need to move on. But I can’t.
Blame and regret are my constant companions. Until I see him in the spotlight and everything changes. Night after night, I watch him dance. Thinking about him.
What he’d feel like.
What he’d taste like.
And now that I know, I want him even more.
And maybe…just maybe, he might want me too.
But not yet.
Not before he knows he’s more than a pretty face. Not before he knows what he means to me. I need him by my side.
The two of us.
Together.
Austin
Why can’t I forget him? His hands touching me. His mouth on mine. Kissing me. Rendering me mindless.
Breathless.
Every night I lay awake burning for him. Dreaming. Thinking. Needing him.
No—I don’t. I don’t need anyone.
I lie.
I want him.
I want more. I am more. He’s seen that, and now here I stand with my dream on the horizon. All I need to do is take that first step. Trust him.
Trust myself.
Rhoades begins where Austin, the prequel story left off
REVIEW:
Ok. So this was like the best book. After reading Austin, I was so ready for this book and I was not disappointed. My only issue with this book is I’m so worried for Frankie 🙁 . I’m so attached to him as well. So I need more of Frankie please lol.
This picks up where Austin left off. Rhoades is trying so hard to restrain himself for Austin’s sake. But the kiss they shared has left him hungry for more. He wants Austin with everything he is. But Rhoades knows something has happened in Austin’s past to make him so wary and untrusting. And he has to play it slow and safe. To distract himself, he’s hired Austin to do some design jobs for him after seeing some sketches he’s drawn. Austin knows this is the dream of a lifetime. But he can’t get past that Rhoades has to want something more. No one ever wants something for nothing. He’s learned that from his past. So Rhoades has to prove that he’s not a lech like the men Austin has encountered and Austin has to learn not everyone wants something and not everyone is out to hurt you. But can they learn before it’s too late?
Man I empathize with Austin so much. When you’ve been hurt badly in life, it’s hard to let go of those walls to let someone in. It always seems like there is an ulterior motive, even when that’s far from true. Yes, Rhoades wants Austin with a passion he’s not felt in years. If ever. But he’s not willing to risk what strenuous relationship they have for it. If what you can call they have a relationship. Austin puts the brakes on at every turn. Learning how to trust is extremely hard and it takes such courage to let that part of yourself go and be open. Austin had to go through a lot to realize he could trust Rhoades. He had to admit to himself how he really felt. And then take a good hard look at himself and reevaluate. And that’s never an easy lesson. Rhoades journey was no less easy. He has been feeling guilt over things that had happened to him. And he had to admit to himself how he really felt about Austin. And he had to learn how to let go and love again.
The journey to a good relationship is not always about sex. It’s about the journey. Each person comes with a load of baggage that the other person has to overcome. And in order to have a good relationship, each person has to learn how to get rid of a lot of that baggage and move on. Not be weighed down by it. Not let other people dictate your happiness. It’s a hard lesson. And takes time. But if it’s worth it, then time flies by.
Get this book. Get this series. (And please hurry with more about Frankie lol).
