REVIEW:
Flux is the second book of the Ennek trilogy. If you have not read the first book, go back and read it! These books are wonderful!!
Just when they think they are free from Praesidium’s grasp, Ennek and Miner find themselves in trouble again. In order to save Ennek’s life, Miner has to make a mystery deal with a witch in the form of a bird. Ennek and Miner meet some very interesting people on the way to the witch. People that are wonderful but under the witch’s thumb. When they find out what the witch wants Ennek to do, they continue out on their adventure.
I don’t want to give the rest of the book away as it would take away from the mystery of it all. But let me tell you there is a lot of WOW moments, and then parts that I just want to cry shake my fist at all the obstacles that come their way. But the book and the happy parts are so worth it!!
Kim Fielding has done so well with this series so far. The series and the book itself. Her writing is phenomenal, the world building she has done is believable yet a little whimsical. When Ennek uses his magic and Minor helps ground him, I am in awe. Ennek’s magical affinity is so strong and with everything he does he gets stronger. Minor is with him the whole way through. Minor’s personality and past comes out more in this book. We learn more about his past and how he was put into Stasis to begin with. Minor’s talents show more and more in the book.
I liked the narrator of the first book, but I am SO glad that Joel Leslie took over the trilogy!! I truly believe he helps the book and it’s characters come alive. There are no holes, no mispronounced words, the narration was perfect. Each character had their own voice. I never wondered who was speaking. From the old witch, to the children, to the king, everyone was perfect. During the parts of the book with a lot of drama, I couldn’t stop listening. During the sad parts, the characters had the kind of tone that made me want to cry and made me feel great loss for them. The happy parts made me so happy, I had tears in my eyes.
Ennek and Minor’s story is a great one with wonderful and big adventures. They complete each other in a way that no one else can. Even though the book does not have many explicit scenes, you can feel the love and the pull between them at all times, even when they are a part. And Joel Leslie helps this come out from the pages and into my heart. Their story is original and breathtaking. I am so happy that I get to be a part of it.
