BLURB:
Will a spontaneous hook up in a bathroom with a bad boy change Jack’s life?
Jack is used to being the odd man out. In a family of retired and active military, Jack was always just a little too small and gentle. A little too gay. His life doesn’t improve when his one friend, his grandfather, passes and leaves Jack with his entire inheritance. Jack’s family is pissed, but their grandfather’s land and money doesn’t come without stipulations. He has to develop the land into a campground–obeying his grandfather’s final wishes–or lose it all to the state. It’s no surprise to Jack when the foreman he hired calls on day one with a problem. The problem? Wild bears.
Can two misfits find love?
Alpha shifter Gideon has been away from his brothers and bear pack for a long time. While his other brothers went on missions securing resources for the pack, Gideon had the unpleasant task of cleaning up their tracks and making sure the skeletons of their past remained hidden. As the youngest, most volatile of the bear brothers, he always gets the crap jobs. When he finally finishes and gets to go home, some idiot is trying to tear their forest down. Gideon heads into town to blow off some steam, and the sexy stranger at the end of the bar looks like he’s had almost as bad of a day as Gideon.
Is it the family you are born with or the family you choose that makes a difference?
A few stolen moments in a bathroom is all it takes for Gideon to realize, Jack is his mate. His bear wants him more than anything but, claiming Jack would be an unkindness. Especially when all the people who ever cared for Gideon in the past wound up hurt or hating him. He’ll protect Jack, but he won’t claim him. That is, until Jack’s ex-fiance appears claiming he still loves Jack. Gideon must decide to make Jack his or lose him forever.
REVIEW:
Well I’m sad. Lol. I love Kiki’s books. Adore them, to be honest. But I was hoping this book would be Chuey’s story. I’m so in love with that little guy. I knew reading the blurb it wasn’t going to be, BUT I’m happy to see he played a bigger role and is working toward a happy ending of his own. And I’m so hoping it’s with who I think it is. That will make my day. As it is, we got to see Gideon get his story. And after some of the crap the sweetheart has had to endure, I’m glad to see he got some happy. He’s carried some burdens for way too long.
Jack has had all he can take. He’s not a terribly brave man. He doesn’t think so anyway. He’s been beaten down since he was a baby. His parents and siblings hate him because he’s different, his ex-fiance has apparently decided Jack has not now nor ever been good enough for him, and he’s lost the one man who ever made him feel loved. His grandfather. Now everybody wants a piece of him because they want his grandfather’s land and money. He doesn’t think he could ever feel any lower. On top of all this, now he’s having problems trying to realize his grandfather’s dream on the land he now owns. Everybody’s crazy saying there’s bears everywhere when he knows there never has been. But he’s in for a big surprise. Going to Noel, he decides to see what’s up and figure out how to fix it. When a chance meeting in a pub leaves him with an experience he will never forget. Gideon. The chemistry is thick in the air and they can’t get to the bathroom fast enough. Once the quickie is over, reality sets back in. And trouble comes with it. The problems with the land lead to Jack’s finding out Gideon’s secret and Gideon is fighting having found his mate. As time goes on, they have to figure out how to make things work. In all ways. And quickly before their little surprise comes to the world.
You ever meet some people and within the minute of meeting them you want to beat the crap out of them? At the least, throat punch them or something? Yeah. Me too. Meet Jack’s family and ex-fiance. The douchebags. Jack is the sweetest, kindest man who just wants love. And in the one place he found it, died. Now his family is trying to take his best memories away too. Go figure for a bunch of greedy pigs. They can never be happy with just what they have. Smh. When he finally goes to Noel to fix all this, Gideon gives him an experience he can’t get past. He feels so different with him. He finally feels alive. But it’s so weird when they don’t even know each other, right? Gideon knows immediately what it is but has no plans to do what he feels. He so guilt ridden and torn over his past, he feels he’d never be good enough for Jack. (Oh my gah that broke my heart so bad). But they need each other so bad. Gideon needs Jack’s love and trust and Jack need Gideon’s love and strength to be his own person. But it’s just like life to try to tear it away. But they know they have to keep trying and keep holding on to make it work. I also love how much Jack took to Chuey. Yeah, he was scared at first, because Chuey literally let the cat out of the bag about them. But he found he loved the little guy and Chuey is starting to flourish.
I love this series. And I was so happy to see some old friends make an appearance. That was a nice surprise. I’m still ready to see more of Chuey though. Lol. He captured my heart as much as Farley, and y’all know how much I love him.
