REVIEW:
Man I am still having a hard time with this series. I don’t know why but I still feel like something is missing. Like there’s a gap somewhere and I can’t figure out why.
Tristan finishes his job for the hotel and knows he has to leave. But he wants Jarek with him. So he makes a deal with the manager to take over Jarek’s contract. He needs to meet with another man to do a job for him. The man seems shady but he does the job, also making a contract with him in return for the favor of setting Jarek ‘free’. But the job brings up problems from his past and in turn puts Jarek in danger. And now Tristan isn’t sure if Jarek will even still want to be with him.
So in book 1, we learn a little of Tristan’s past. What set him on the path he’s on. In this book, we meet part of that past. And it’s dangerous. We also learn in this book a little more about Jarek, to a point. And I gotta say I feel for Jarek. Really feel for him. No matter what ‘being’ you may be, people still deserve to be treated decently and not like trash. Not like a thing or an it. And Jarek is never given the choice to choose. And I love Tristan for giving him that. Yes, technically, Tristan bought out his contract, but he still wants Jarek to be able to have a choice in anything they do. And that is beautiful. Tristan also has a way now to take care of Jarek, but the part about that that gets me, is for someone who wants to do the right thing, he doesn’t as far as his boss. He knows something is shady and not right but he goes to work for him anyway. So I’m kinda torn about that. But then sometimes we have to make decisions we don’t want to in order to be there for someone.
Part of me really hopes there’s a book 3 coming. That part of me is really curious about where this could go. But a part of me is hesitant because I can’t figure out what’s missing for me. Happy reading!
