BLURB:
A traumatic past doesn’t have to mean not having a future.
When Jason Diovardi, military elite, is removed from active duty after failing too many psych evals, he has only one goal in mind: get back into the field. It’s all he knows and all he thinks he’s good for, which is why he grudgingly accepts two live-in AI Companions to help him begin to recover from his severe PTSD. Chase and Shade are a matched pair, and Jason hopes they’ll keep each other distracted enough to leave him alone so he can go through the motions and be cleared for fieldwork.
Jason doesn’t expect to actually get better, and the progress he makes with his patient and caring Companions sneaks up on him—and so do unexpected feelings between the three of them. Now Jason might even be able to admit to being happy. But has he healed enough to allow himself to accept what Chase and Shade are offering?
Hope. Love. A reason to live.
REVIEW:
Ok…wow. So, I knew when I read the blurb for Rule of Thirds that it was going to be different. But I didn’t expect this. What a pleasant, unexpected surprise. Right off know that if you wanted some hot threesome action with a hurt/comfort element, you will not get it with this story. This is one of those books that the emotional connection between the characters is front and center. Jason is so damaged mentally and emotionally that at times I was thinking there is just no way Chase and Shade will get through to him. And oh my goodness….Chase and Shade…wow…just WOW…throughout the entirety of the story I kept forgetting that they weren’t human. It was only when Chase or Shade referenced it that I remembered. I loved how they all helped each other…I loved their bond…and I loved how their story was told.
Jason lives for his job. He’s given his country more of himself than anyone should. After a particularly difficult mission Jason was deemed unfit for duty and was required to get some emotional counseling involving artificial being(s).
Chase and Shade were made to take care of humans. Having formed a bond with each other early on when they are placed with a human they come as a pair.
Jason thinks having 2 companions will make it so he will not be bother as much. What Jason isn’t expecting is how much Chase and Shade start helping him. He doesn’t expect to feel anything for the two men but around them his walls start to come down and his emotional/mental torment starts to lessen.
This book is a page turner. As much as I wanted more physical connection between the three I loved all the time they spent together. I loved the loyalty and how they grew together.
This was well written and such a unique story. Recommend.
