REVIEW:
Well going in to this I knew there was a book 2 and I’m glad there is a book 2 or I’d be REALLY unhappy. I’m still a little disappointed. It wasn’t a cliffhanger but yet it was. And I really feel like there is more to Tristan’s story. I feel like Jarek has a story himself. Especially with the way things were worded. Just feels like there are things missing. And I was kinda disappointed there wasn’t more to the ‘banishing’ or getting rid of the demon. It felt like a build up and then anticlimactic. But maybe it’s just me. I do overall, like the story. The plot as a whole was good. Good ideas.
Ok so, Tristan is an excommunicated mage. He’s been booted out of a well known school for mages and now is doing spells and things on his own. The problem with this is it leaves him drained so he has to spend some time preparing to be ready. A hotel calls for his services because there have been suspicious suicides. So Tristan goes in, sets up, and gets ready. He’s feeling lower than low about things that have happened lately and in the past, pushed almost to the point of seeming ending it all himself, when out of his summoning circle comes two beings, struggling. Well Tristan casts the spell to rid place of the bad demon and that leaves him with what? An incubi that looks like him. A night of passion, a dark secret revealed and things feel over. But are they?
Tristan already feels lower than low about things that have happened so when this demon he’s supposed to banish comes to fruition, you almost wonder if Tristan is ready to end it himself. The leech is causing people to commit suicide, and Tristan is prime fleshy target. At the last minute though, Tristan pulls out of it and does his job. But is left with Jarek. Who looks exactly like Tristan. Both of these guys have stories. Tristan has a past, where he’s been hurt. I think Jarek does too. Tristan just spends most of his time reflecting on it and wallowing in guilt, while desperately hoping for love. Maybe after their one night, things will change. Jarek seems to hope so. And maybe Tristan can finally be at peace.
It’s so hard to choose what to say. I don’t want to give away anything , but it’s almost like there’s not a lot to tell. I need more. So much more. I’m off to read book 2 and I hope it will fill in some gaps and finish what felt left off. Happy reading!
