Weretiger Terry is used to being in charge. He’s the boss, even when that job is as stressful as can be. So when he hears a new BDSM club is opening in Dallas, he has to go find himself a twink to help relieve his stress.
What Terry finds is werebear Ash, who’s the bigger apex predator in this situation. Ash is happy to turn Terry’s expectations upside down and teach Terry how to accept what he needs. Even if what he needs scares Terry half to death.
REVIEW:
Terry was first introduced as a secondary character in the first book of this series, By Design, and while I thought he was a decent character, you didn’t get to really know him that well. With a starring role in this newest book in the Southern Cats series, I did get to learn more about him, which I enjoyed, but I would’ve liked to have spent more time with him overall. Unlike the previous story, there’s not much in the way of plot here; I felt this fell more in the category of a sexy interlude in the series that allowed for Terry to get a nice happy ending after his assistant did.
Terry is obviously used to being large and in charge (he is a tiger shifter, after all) and as such he’s usually drawn towards the twinks that he can easily dominate in and out of the bedroom. Meeting Ash is something of a revelation; also an apex predator (bear, literally) he obviously isn’t one to be pushed around like the men Terry usually hooks up with and when Ash rocks his world, pretty much literally, it has Terry running scared. I actually really enjoyed this one; it was nice getting to see Terry again and I liked the chemistry he had going on with Ash. The bdsm elements here were on the lighter side of things, mostly a tiny bit of bondage and some spanking, but it added a nice little spice to the encounters between these two. Not that they really needed it since they were pretty hot together just on their own, but still.
If you aren’t familiar with the series, reading the first book would give you a little context for a few minor things but I don’t believe its necessary to have read it in order to enjoy this one. While I did like it, I’m still holding out hope that I’ll get to see more of Terry and Ash in the future; for now though, this made for a great way to start my day.
