REVIEW:
Anyone who follows my reviews will know that I’m a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy. A book about time travel? Sign me up. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of time travel in this one. In fact, in my humble opinion, the time travel was a piece of the puzzle that didn’t really fit in the story.
Alex and Charlie, the two main characters meet in grade school when Alex rescues Charlie from some school yard bullies. Then they move on to being best friends and eventually lovers. Then Charlie comes into possession of a magic watch with time travel capabilities. When both are catapulted back into the early 1900s, and Alex loses his memory, we have our all too brief foray into time travel.
But the time travel is then over, and the rest of the book is about their upcoming wedding, getting invitations out, then briefly touching on their vows and then their honeymoon. I felt kind of gypped. It wasn’t the story I signed up to read and review. And there was perhaps too much sex in ratio to the non-sex portions. I see it is supposed to be an erotic novel, so I guess it is fitting, but most of the sex scenes were rather pedestrian and didn’t hold my attention.
If you’re a fan of erotica, you might like the story. For me, there just wasn’t enough story to tie together the sex scenes and after the time travel piece was done, the rest seemed to be just about tying everything together to make it a HEA in some sort of perfect gay world. It didn’t leave me happy. Finally, at the very end, there was a return to the watch, but very briefly and not in a way that captured my attention to want to know more. I’d have to give this one a rating of “It was okay”.
