REVIEW:
As a motorcycle guy, I search out and read almost anything I can find in the various m/m genres that even remotely has a motorcycle in it. When I was on eXtasy’s website, I saw the motorcycle on the cover of this one and was drawn into the book by the blurb. A down on his luck young man falls for the sergeant in arms of a biker club? Sign me up. So, I requested the book to read and review.
I liked the story. I liked the overly naïve Owen, and cringed as he was so adamantly insisting to his best friend Kim that he was interested in this unobtainable man. But there was more to Caleb than Owen, or we, knew.
I liked the building story. I personally used to belong to a ‘bike association’ the term for those biker groups that don’t fit the 1% designation. I’ve been around a lot of bikes and bikers, so maybe I was a little hesitant to believe everything portrayed, but overall the author did a great job with it. There were enough brutal scenes and depictions throughout the story that I got to thinking of Sons of Anarchy and picturing the characters involved with that group. Some things from a motorcycle point of view were a bit off, but wouldn’t stand out to a non motorcycle person. For example, Caleb’s title. The actual title would be sergeant at arms, not ‘in’, and the totally obscure bike that Owen ends up buying. The model number sounded close to a real bike…but with a couple digits left off…maybe for copyright rules? Regardless, the bike wasn’t one that would be that popular with a bike club.
I found the story an interesting read, and it kept me going right up until the end. I wasn’t sure how it would end up, but was happy with the ending. This was my first book by this author, but I will definitely be searching out others.
I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good motorcycle club story.
