REVIEW:
I really enjoyed this story. It was everything a Dreamspun Beyond title promised to be. It had paranormal elements and a happy sappy ending that left me warm and fuzzy.
I liked the beginning. I liked the way details were given but they didn’t make sense yet. They were little teasers to West’s history that made me need to keep reading to understand their relevance and how they fit into the story. I felt a connection to West right away.
Julian on the other hand came across as an assshole at first and I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. He seemed like a playboy with no concern for anyone around him. But at the same time, I could tell there was more to his story. And there was. He had layers and as his real self was revealed, I cam to like him just as much as I instantly liked West.
I loved the way the magic was described. Almost like it was visible and living and had its own personality. It was music, and movement, and feeling. It was a very unique way of presenting the concept and it worked so well for me. It was a part of the story and it was almost like a being of its own.
The plot was great. I love a good fake marriage story and this one hit all the high notes. It had strangers becoming friends becoming more. And then add in an element of magic gone bad and some secrets and this story had just enough tension to counteract the fluff.
I really liked the way the story happened and how the romance developed. It was slow yet rushed. But the rushed feeling was explained very well with the bonding that happened. I occasionally wished for a bit more time spent on the bond formation and what it meant and how it came to be, but in the end I was still very happy to see West and Julian find their HEA.
I recommend this one as it was a very enjoyable and happy read.
