BLURB:
Most of his young life, Morgan Wentworth has dreamed of becoming a principal dancer in a prestigious corps de ballet. After years studying the art in Milan, Morgan comes home to New York City to apprentice with the Manhattan Ballet Company only to be hit by the unexpected death of his older brother, Jake. The grieving dancer learns his life is threatened by a dangerous rival motorcycle gang and that pierced, tattooed, HOT biker Zeke Ivers has been assigned by Jake’s MC to guard him. Saddled with the constant presence of the infuriating man, Morgan juggles the demands of an exhausting dance schedule as well as his new responsibilities as CEO of his family’s multi-million-dollar company. He never expects to develop an attraction for the straight, obnoxious biker, but that’s exactly what happens.
Estranged from an abusive family, Zeke Ivers has lived at the Sentinel’s club house and worked on cars since he was a teen. When fellow club member Jake Wentworth and a rival club president’s girl are killed on Jake’s bike, the Sentinel’s president delegates the protection of Jake’s little brother, Morgan, to Zeke. Zeke would do anything for the club that pulled him off the streets, but Morgan’s a ballet dancer, for Christ’s sake, as well as annoying as hell. Still, Zeke finds himself inexplicably drawn to the young man. The more attracted Zeke becomes to Morgan, the more the biker is forced to examine his sexuality and decide whether two people from opposite sides of the tracks could possibly have a future together, or if Zeke should do what is fast becoming too painful to consider: let Morgan go.
REVIEW
Zeke and Morgan are the classic example of opposites attract. In most ways, they grew up in totally different worlds, except for the fact that neither of them had stellar parents.
Zeke is totally rough and tumble but he’s also a hard worker and a decent human being. He’s been struggling with his sexuality for a long time but meeting Morgan is the thing that finally pushes him over the edge to admitting who he really is.
Morgan is tough in his own right. Ballet may look delicate to the observer, but it’s hard work for the dancers and only people with the right amount of determination get very far. Morgan is very determined.
Once they meet, though, things begin to change very quickly for both of them.
Zeke thinks that taking care of Morgan is just an extension of taking care of the only family he’s really known, his fellow bikers.
Morgan is just pissed off because he’s worked to hard to get where he is to have it all ripped away by a vengeful psychopath.
Once they start to see things through each other’s eyes, they get closer than they ever could have imagined.
I like the other guys in Zeke’s club. They are interesting in their own right while helping move the plot along and I’m looking forward to seeing who get’s their story next.
I’m also a big fan of Morgan’s best friend. She’s a girl who breathes loyalty and I love the fact that this story has a woman who is strong and caring and doesn’t turn into a complete bitch, like I see so much of in m/m books.
They author is good at creating the world her character live in, and I had no trouble imaging the scenes as they played out.
It moved a little fast for me. Zeke has been wrestling with his demons for so long, I would have liked to have seen him hold out a little longer before giving in to Morgan’s charms.
It’s an enjoyable read, however. I like stories that drag me along without ever letting go and I don’t mind admitting that once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.
I am so looking forward to book 2!
