This is a Series Review of More Than Anything (Books 1 – 3)
AUTHOR: Nick Kove
PUBLISHER: Arctic Circle Press
SERIES REVIEW:
I loved this series! So much so that I gobbled up all three books in one afternoon, no breaks in permitted. I have so many emotions after reading these books that I don’t even know where to begin. I loved Jørgen and Geir. Both flawed and yet so endearingly perfect. And there is no doubt in my mind that the two were absolutely perfect for each other and belong together. When reading their story the one thing you never doubted was their connection, like gravity they were drawn to each other and you just kept on hoping that they would find their happily ever after through all the struggles and pain. That it was all worth it in the end.
Geir and Jørgen’s story is one of friendship slowly growing into a deep love. But also one of coming of age, share that first kiss and falling in love for the first time. About finding that one person who will change your life, make you truly live. A love that will conquer everything life might throw in their ways.
A fair warning, these books do not stand on their own, each picks up where the last left off, and the two first ones ends with cliffhangers – so be warned and have all three books ready to go when you start out, I guarantee you won’t be regret picking them up.

He might’ve been the right person—if I hadn’t been so damaged and he hadn’t been so young.
The first time I met him, he had a seizure on the pavement in front of my flat. When my efforts to find someone who could take him off my hands failed, I let him spend the night. He was already asleep anyway, so it wasn’t like I had any choice.
What started out as helping someone in need, slowly turns into something much more when he keeps appearing in my life. But how can he want someone like me? Someone so damaged and traumatised from my past that it keeps on messing up my present? When just one simple touch from someone is enough to bring on a flashback, a relationship with another person isn’t exactly within reach.
REVIEW:
All I wanted was a friend. I’d give anything to have just one friend.
I loved this book. It sucked me in from that very first page and I had a hard time putting it down. Before I knew it I had finished it all in one sweep. And I couldn’t be happier. I love these two guys to bits. My heart aches and breaks for them, but seeing them together also brings a lot of joy and hope.
One lonely boy suffering from epilepsy and being bullied for it in school, his best and only friend in the world is his elderly dog Charo. The 22 year old Jørgen, severely traumatized and haunted by his past, surviving one day to the next, never really part of the world or the living.
Geir was 16 when they first met that cold and snowy January day outside Jørgen’s apartment. Only he doesn’t remember much of that first encounter as he was unconscious for most of it. Arriving home from work Jørgen finds an unknown guy outside his gate in the midst of an epileptic seizure. Noticing he there was no one else to help, Jørgen brings him home to sleep off the after effects. Little does he know that the boy he brought home would change his life in more ways than one.
The tentative and at times reluctant friendship that develops between Geir and Jørgen is wonderful to follow. Both are scarred and lonely but also determined to make things work. They are drawn to each other, neither quite sure what to make of the other, but knowing that something great is happening. Theirs is a very slow-burn romance, it’s tentative and sweet and watching them care for each other was a truly beautiful thing.
Sometimes our wants and expectations in life are simple, sometimes the only thing you want is a friend to make you feel less alone.

How could we ever make a relationship work while living nine hours away from each other?
I’ve just met him, just got to know him, and come to care for him… and now I’m losing him. He’s moving away and there’s nothing either of us can do about since he’s not legal yet.
Then again, maybe it’s all for the better. He gets to experience something other than my messed up psyche. Maybe it’ll be good for him, maybe he’ll meet people his own age, find a boyfriend who can give him what he deserve. I want him to be happy.
But I want to be happy too. And can I be that without him?
REVIEW:
The second book was way angstier than the first one, and more than one tear was shed during that read. My heart broke in so many pieces for Jørgen. Finally having found something good, someone who shines a light in the darkness, someone to show him what happiness feels like. Only to be ruthlessly ripped away when Geir’s father moves them to Oslo and away from Jørgen.
Overall this book had a bleaker feel to it compared to the first book. It wasn’t as hopeful or giddy with excitement for that new relationship. It deals with many heavy subjects and is an emotional ride to say the least. I loved every second of it. Jørgen never really dealt with his past or his PTSS before and it kept him from truly living. Yes it was painful to read at times, but all that pain also signified healing and starting over, moving forward. Hopefully towards Geir. Sometimes distance is just a measurement, and really can make the heart grow fonder.
Geir for his part started to mature in his own way. He got to experience being a part of a family and starting over in a new place. He also had to deal with a more present dad, something that didn’t always go smoothly. I can’t say that I ever warmed to his dad, he was just too inconsiderate of Geir’s feelings and wishes and I never felt that he truly made an effort to help or understand Geir.
Even though I hated that Jørgen and Geir were apart from each other for a large part of this book, I also believe they needed it in some aspects. They both grew and matured in ways but also developed friendships with other people, genuine friendships. I love both Nik and Alex and as soon as I’m done writing will look to see if they’ve got stories of their own.
This book ends on a hopeful note, but the couple still have ways to go yet, so having book three ready to go is a must!

TITLE: Anything But Normal
LENGTH: 126 pages
RELEASE DATE: February 15, 2018
BLURB:
Can we ever have a normal relationship?
I’m a broken man. Thanks to my boyfriend’s psychiatrist uncle, however, I might finally get some much needed professional help to come to term with my past and my post-traumatic stress disorder. But it all feels hollow and empty without Geir—because he was the one who made life worth living.
We might as well live a world’s apart. He can only visit during holidays now that he lives in the capital, and I can’t face going to a big city. A year’s a long time. Can a tentative relationship such as ours survive that long apart?
REVIEW:
I’ve loved every single word of Jørgen and Geir’s journey. At times it has been painful but their love overshadows all the pain and tears. They share that kind of love fairy tales are made of. It’s so strong and tangible that you can almost see it. It’s the kind of love I always look for when picking up a romance novel.
While the second book was one of angst and but also healing, this last instalment is one of self-discovery, recovery but also a lot of longing. The hopefulness from the first book is back, the world isn’t as bleak and dark anymore, sure there are dark moments (Jørgen’s letter absolutely gutted me) but overall this was a sweeter read. And we also get some sexy at the end as well. I loved to see how far they’d come.
All in all, this was a great ending to their story, we finally have that happy ending we’ve been waiting for ever since starting the first book. The pain and tears were definitely worth it to end up with that beautiful ending. I’m sad to say leave these boys, but I’m happy for the time I spent with them. I highly recommend these books!
