Gareth’s heart is set on Cam, but Cam’s heart broke a long time ago.
As alpha of the Regent’s Park Pack, Cam’s focus is always centred on its members—his personal life pushed aside after the death of his wife. Now that his pack has merged with the Primrose Hill shifters, he can’t afford any distractions.
Gareth’s been in love with his alpha for years, but his position as beta complicates matters. Added to the fact Cam still mourns his late wife, Gareth knows his feelings will never be reciprocated, so he buries them deep.
With the two packs already struggling to unite under one alpha, they get a surprise addition—one who causes more tension within the ranks. Under such strain, long-kept secrets are forced into the open. Gareth and Cam must deal with the aftermath, while also keeping the pack’s best interests at heart.
REVIEW:
Now, anyone who has read my previous reviews on this series know that I’ve just really wanted Cam’s story. I was PINING for it. I kept mentioning it in my reviews. I’m not really sure what it was about the character that just kept me wanting so much more of him. I really just loved the way that he led his pack. The way that he cared and only wanted the very best for them. I loved how he still loved his deceased wife, Mia. I didn’t even know that she was human until this book. But, there was something about him that kept drawing me closer and closer to him and I wanted more and more of him. Well…I Freakin Got It!!!
Cameron Hartley is the Alpha of the Regent’s Park Pack as you know from either reading the previous books or just reading the blurb and this man is just Amazing. Like you couldn’t tell how I felt about him from the previous paragraph…right? Cam lost his mate and buried his heart beneath a layer of stone. Sure he was never to love again. Then the chance arose again with Gareth and now Cam has to face loving again.
Gareth Stone, one of the betas for the Regent’s Park Pack has been in love with Cam for years and he’s hid it pretty well from everyone, inclucding Cam. Gareth is a great beta. He loves and cares for his unit and would do anything to protect them and the pack. It’s what he was made to do. I love that Gareth has been an outstanding character the entire series. I never once had a bad thought about this character and knew he was a good guy. I was sad that he loved someone who didn’t know and was by all appearances straight and his Alpha.
The secondary characters in the book were actually really wonderful. I love that Alec made some really great appearances. Alec was so very helpful to both Gareth and especially Cam. I love that he has absolute respect for Cam and still could tell him the truth. Make him confront his fears. Rachel…now as she was one of the many catalysts that helped these two men get together…was actually a great female character. As this series hasn’t really had many females mentioned or on screen…this was actually really great that they allowed one who wasn’t so very shallow or mean. Yeah, she came off that way in the beginning…however…once we got her story, you could totally understand why she was acting the way that she was.
This story was so well done…I have to say that I liked that Cam has his struggle with not feeling guilt towards feeling as if he was betraying Mia and the guilt that followed. I thought that Annabelle did a wonderful job relaying that kind of emotion. I love that Newell and Wes made return appearances and that you got to see truly what their life was now like. How Newell even became more violent and disassociated from society.
This story was the one that I was waiting for. I just knew that Cam and Gareth’s story would be both parts heartbreaking and yet, so very tender and loving. I’ve really enjoyed reviewing this series and as I’ve stated multiple times…I was waiting for this story and it was worth the wait.
