When Martha returns to the homestead after five years away at school, the excitement of her arrival is somewhat overshadowed. There’s a new pack in town who appear friendly enough but something about them raises both the Alphas hackles. But any reservations about their new neighbors don’t stop Martha from falling for the charms of the handsome wolf set on seducing her.
With his stubborn daughter intent on giving up her future plans, his youngest son out of control and Ephraim not doing much better, Caleb struggles to keep his family together, risking his relationship with Jacob in the process. And, of course, the surprise guest that Martha brings with her doesn’t help matters either.
And as for Martha, her whole life has been an adventure of books and learning, until Albert captures her heart. But while she wrestles with her feelings, there’s a constant presence waiting in the wings. Someone that will catch her if she falls. Someone that always has, and always will. If she’ll let him.
No matter how far you go, there will always be a home for you in my heart.
REVIEW:
There’s something so incredibly heartwarming as a reader to start a series and stick with it as the characters grow and build their lives. Home in your Heart is an interesting addition to a well loved series. I think one of the best things about Alex Jane is the way the characters are developed. It’s remarkable the connections I feel to them. I really enjoyed Martha in the previous books and it was nice that she had a bigger role but I still craved and yearned for those Caleb and Jacob interactions.
I love how deep Caleb and Jacob get. I love how much they love and care for their family. What flourished for me was seeing the growth and bond of the family as a whole. What was a bit disappointing was the lack of connection and intimacy between Jacob and Caleb. It almost seemed like they put all their passions into the family and forgot about each other. Not to say that spark I feel in love with was gone completely but I would have loved more. This book was particularly high on the drama which pleased me; I’m a huge drama and angst fan.
Being Alpha’s they are incredibly protective and that fact is very apparent when another pack arrives in town which added another level of drama to the story.
Although, like I mentioned, Martha settling down wasn’t something I felt I needed it was nice seeing her blossom and become more of an adult.
This story hints at more books before the series comes to an end which I am definitely looking forward to. Alex Jane has definitely captured my interest as far as Ephraim is concerned, I can’t wait for more about his story.
Overall, this was pretty good. Not my favorite in the series but I can see why it was included. It tied up some loose ends and opened a few more doors.
Recommend to fans of the series.
