A family to call his own.
Orphaned as a boy, Henry has wanted a family for years. Simple, right? Not really. After a year of marriage, his alpha wants a divorce. Even worse, his soon-to-be ex wants Henry’s inheritance. Bereft and heart-broken, Henry is on his own again, and in danger of losing a great deal of money. But just as quickly, he finds himself in the office of a very hot, very ripped, divorce lawyer. A gorgeous, blond alpha who’s giving him a sultry look along with some whip-smart legal advice.
Everything to lose.
David’s built his practice to be the best in the tri-state area. It hasn’t come easy. Hard work. Sacrifice. A family of nay-sayers. If he goes anywhere near his handsome client, he risks his reputation. But he can’t deny the simmering attraction. A kiss leads to more. He’s determined to show his omega just how good they can be together.
But doubts and secrets conspire to tear them apart. Henry discovers he’s pregnant. His fears make the relationship spin onto thin ice. But David’s determined to prove he’s man enough to be a strong and dependable alpha.
Can David help heal Henry’s bruised heart and show his omega that they have the makings of the perfect family?
REVIEW:
I discovered this series when the author requested her fourth book to be reviewed. I discovered that I really liked the author’s style and wanted to read the first three books. I was right…this series is a winner.
Henry is forced into going to see an attorney…a divorce attorney to be exact. He had no idea why his Alpha had not only given up on him but was now seeking a divorce. He knew that his husband Greg had shouted how he was lousy in bed but he didn’t think he would actually leave home and start divorce proceeding. His friend Ned recommended he see his friend David, a brilliant family law attorney. What Ned failed to mention was that David was a gorgeous Alpha that got him going just looking at him. Add in his scent and Henry was a goner. David had prided himself on being a strict “by the book” kind of guy. He followed the letter of the law. He had to be extra careful because of his family’s “business”. But one look and sniff of the omega sitting across from him and he knew he was so screwed! He could not touch the man that was setting off all his internal bells. He just had to get this case over fast!
Poor Henry. He had been given a rough deal all of his life. His parents were killed while he was still only seventeen. His best friend’s parent took him in and gave him a life as their son. His best friend’s brother fell for him and they married, making him officially part of the family. But now that family was crumbling all around him. He had only ever wanted to be an omega to his alpha and build his own forever family around him. But that slimy piece of work Greg had him questioning everything he knew and not trusting anyone anymore.
David had never, ever wanted or planned to be part of the “family business”! When becoming a Major League Baseball player didn’t pan out he went for this second choice, an attorney. But said business meant that he had to be a straight arrow. Never making a mistake that could make everything crumble. That became increasingly more and more difficult when he realized he had finally found his omega. The problem was that Henry was his client and you can’t have a relationship with you client.
I have now discovered that this author has her omega’s give birth naturally. I still don’t get the mechanics but realize that isn’t important to the story. I loved how she had poor Henry getting more and more cranky and miserable as the story progressed. It seemed so natural and normal, like every pregnant woman I know. Cankles and being just plain miserable is part of pregnancy and Henry was no exception. But I loved that David tried…even though there was never a chance at appeasing Henry. It was adorable.
When I first heard the phrase mpreg a few months ago I had no idea what my friend’s were even discussing. I this that this may just be my new favorite trope, non-shifter male pregnancy and I love this sweet little series!
