Hello all, can you believe it’s already March?! Did you know that March is national reading month? So, let’s talk books. I love to read in any format available to me. Hardcover, paperback, eBook, eBook app, Audiobooks and magazines just to name a few. It’s always a joy for me to loose myself in a good story, to escape the world around me even if only for a little while. Whether it’s romance, mystery, fantasy or a dark comedy, a good book is like food for your soul. One of my favorite Author’s is Mary Calmes who has an uncanny ability to write stories with grit, courage, darkness and love. Her characters are always three dimensional and multi faceted, the worlds she creates are descriptive and captivating and you will always get a happy ever after. While I’ve read nearly everything she’s written, my personal favorite is the Matter of Time series. Sam Kage is this larger than life personality that truly sucks all the air out of the room. His one true love, Jory, is the biggest trouble magnet on the planet. Seriously! This poor guy gets shot, kidnapped, damn near beaten to death, hit by a car, paralyzed for a bit, stalked by a mobster, fawned over by a millionaire, kidnapped again, punched multiple times while rushing to aid a damsel in distress and walks right into a bank robbery… and the list goes on. I also love that Mary added depth and meat to Sam and Jory’s stories with amazing secondary characters that are just as well written and rounded out as the two male leads. Now, while there are only six books and few novellas that catalog Sam and Jory’s relationship over almost two decades, there are several books peppered into the series that feature former lovers that are given their chance for a happy ever after, and the Marshalls series that heavily features Sam as THE highest Federal Marshall there is. Seriously, if you haven’t read these books, you are missing out! I’ve both read and listened to them all multiple times and cannot wait to visit with them again.
Here are the links for you so you can go grab these books if you haven’t had the pleasure yet.
Matter of time Volume 1 * Matter of time Volume 2 * Bulletproof * But for You * Parting Shot * Piece of Cake * The Marshalls series * Acrobat
Parting Shot is actually Duncan and Aaron’s book and Acrobat is Duncan’s former lover’s book and should be read in between But for You and Parting Shot if you want to truly run through the series in the order of events. There is also a short story on Mary’s website somewhere that features Jory unknowingly walking into a bank robbery. Like I said, trouble magnet.
So, in keeping with the theme, comment below and tell me what your all time favorite book or series is. Something you’ve read multiple times and think that everyone with eyes should read, or ears to listen 😉 Have a safe and happy spring everyone, see you next month!

My newest release, Survivor which is the first book in the trilogy, is available in Print, eBook and Audiobook…
Frank Moore is a rookie with the Dallas Police Department when he and his partner answer a call in Devonshire, one of the city’s more affluent neighborhoods. They think the young boy in various pictures throughout the home has been kidnapped until they find him, shaken but alive. Officer Moore recognizes the pain in the kid’s eyes, having lost his own mother to cancer when he was just a boy. He steps in, making sure Taylor is placed with a loving foster family. Over the years, Frank becomes a permanent fixture in Taylor’s life.
A decade later, the case remains unsolved and the once gangly, uncertain teenager is now a college graduate who knows exactly what he wants. He’s coming home to the man that helped mold and shape his life, the man he’s loved for as long as he can remember, Frank Moore. But Taylor isn’t the only person returning to Dallas, and while Frank is distracted by his own conflicting feelings and the new bond growing between the two, the past creeps up on them, determined to finish what was started ten years earlier.
A note from the author…
I hope you enjoy Frank and Taylor’s story. It’s been a long road to get them settled, but I’m happy with where this story has taken them. When I started this book, the intent was to write a stand-alone story, but that has changed. Characters continually evolve throughout the writing process, and there are several characters in the book that want to tell their story. I’ve grown especially fond of Rory and I can’t wait to write his book, which will take us back to when he first joined the Bureau, and continue on to his happy ever after.
Please be advised: This is a May/December romance, and as in life, there are sexual situations that take place prior to the main characters finding their way to one another. This is not gratuitous; it is meant to show character growth and self-realization. There is absolutely no cheating.

Thank you for the post! My favourite series is Adrien English by Josh Lanyon… Maybe because it was one of my first, and I loved it deeply. As for my favourite book, that would be Muscling Through by JL Merrow. I re-read it every time I’m feeling down…
