The Bartletts are fixtures in the small town of Havendale, and Blake’s extended family welcome him back with open arms. He’s settling in and getting back in his family’s good graces, when he meets Lincoln Coleman. Suddenly, he’s starting to want things he shouldn’t, and their relationship is beginning to heat up.
Linc may have the reputation for being a one-night stand kind of guy, but the rumors aren’t quite right. When he meets Blake and his daughter, he imagines family life and settling down for the first time. There’s only one problem: Blake has taken on a leadership role in the Bartlett Construction business and now Linc works for the man he’s falling in love with.
Blake’s well-intentioned family may have them tied up in knots, but only they can untangle their heart strings…
REVIEW:
What a sweet story. I really enjoyed it. It pulled at the heartstrings and yet was funny as well.
Blake’s life is falling apart. Everything in life he dreamed of is in tatters and even worse he feels guilty and ashamed from keeping it from his family. But his family don’t want to hear it, they just want him home. With his little princess, he returns. Embraced in the family he doesn’t know how he’s done without, he starts to put his and his daughter’s life back together. Sure there are bumps, but with his family life seems to get better. He has support and love and his daughter has the family she needs. But the biggest bump comes in the form the foreman, Linc. As soon as Blake sees Linc, he is breathless. He can’t seem to form coherent words. And can’t remember how long it’s been since he’s felt anything remotely like that. Linc gets him to agree to a date, and Blake overhears some comments about him. Thinking he’s good for a one night stand, he is happy to have his itch scratched and go on. But Linc’s ideas are much different. He may have been a hit it and quit it man before, but something about Blake makes him want forever. Now he has to figure out how to get the man of his dreams without screwing up his job.
Without giving away anything, I can’t really describe Blake’s life. But he’s torn apart. He had a dream of what it would be like and for a while it seemed it was going to be. But things changed and he is lost. Right from the start of the book, there’s a tug of the heartstrings. To see what he’s gone through and what he’s going through, and with his little princess as well. They are trying to cope the best they can. Blake feels so much. He feels ashamed and guilty because he left his family out of what was going on. But he didn’t know how to really cope. His heart is so big. He’s so loving and the way he is with his little girl is amazing. I love his family. There are a lot of people who aren’t blessed with a family who cares so much and just wraps you up in it’s embrace, regardless of what’s happened. But Blake’s did. They are the balm his weary soul needs. The support and love his daughter needs. And now Blake feels like he can breathe. Until Linc walks in lol. Linc is one of those guys that knocks you on your ass. A sexy man in a gorgeous package. And as Blake gets to know him, a brain to match. Blake feels the need to blow off steam and figures that’s all he needs. But between his heart and Linc’s, it seems love has worked its way in. And happy day, it’s what he needs. They just have to work through a few things.
It’s a very sweet and heartwarming story. Heartbreaking at moments, but sometimes life has a way of giving us a hard time. We just have to keep working at it and keep going.
