RELEASE DATE: February 14th, 2018
BLURB:
A friends-to-lovers novella that came from Out of the Shadows, because Nate and Dylan needed a story….
Nate and Dylan have been pals for a long time. So what if their friends think they’ve got a little bromance going? Doesn’t mean there’s anything more to it than that, right? And even if there is, Nate and Dylan are totally oblivious….
Until the night they share a drunken kiss—and everything changes.
REVIEW:
K.C. Wells is one of my favorite authors and so I’m always happy to review one of her stories. I haven’t read the original story that these characters came from but I will be rectifying that soon.
Nate and Dylan are best friends. They’ve been joined at the hip since they were kids and you rarely find one without the other.
Their friends are sure that something is going on between them besides friendship, but both men scoff at their insinuations…until they don’t.
I liked this story a lot. K.C. Wells always knows how to draw the reader in with honest emotions and brilliant dialogue. Both men are adorable as they slowly find a way to explore the feelings that seem to have grown and changed without them really noticing until it’s been pointed out to them.
Another thing this author excels at is writing friendships. Her characters always seem to end up with true friends who want nothing more than the best for her main characters and it almost makes me a little jealous, because who couldn’t use a few friends like that? This story is no exception, with Christian and Josh (who are the returning characters from Out of the Shadows) maintaining her excellent reputation. They do a great job of helping Nate and Dylan maneuver the change in their relationship.
And K.C. Wells also writes great sex. It’s steamy and sexy while still being a little sweet. They smile and have fun while having sex and I think that always adds to the story. (And in real life)
This is a great book and the only thing that kept it from being 5 hearts for me is the whole gay-for-you trope. I have a hard time with it, because neither character ever seems to have shown any interest in the same-sex before for the most part but that is really just a personal bias I guess.
Anyone who is a fan of this author will recognise the unique voice that she expresses herself in and if you’ve never read her before, this would be a great place to get started.
