REVIEW:
Before picking up this book you need to suspend all beliefs and take it all with a pinch of salt, because not much in it is (sadly) credible or believable. That being said, I absolutely adored this book. It was sweet, not overly angsty and I enjoyed myself immensely during these 9 hours I spent listening to Michael Pauley’s performance.
Felix wants to escape for a while. He wants nothing more than to live his life in relatively peace and quiet, to study the rare glass found at Gadleigh Castle, and hopefully unmask the glass maker. What he doesn’t want is the limelight and media attention that always seem to shine on him every time his mother makes a new movie.
Prince Lio is facing the biggest changes of his life – he’s about to be crowned king of Liorland after his father’s upcoming abdication. Only he is not ready. He’s not ready for the responsibility, the expectations that comes with that crown. So he escapes to his favourite place in the world. Gadleigh Castle. He goes there to think, to prepare himself for the future he was born into, one not including a man to love.
When exploring the castle and the glass objects hidden everywhere, Felix accidentally stumbles upon a hidden door. Behind that door he finds something he never expected to find, the most gorgeous man he’d ever seen. The chemistry between these men is instant and it’s explosive. It’s a start of a whirlwind romance, but one tinged with secrets from both sides and one that might not end with a happily ever after.
Felix and Lio were adorable and sweet together, and this book sure fed my sugar cravings, but without being overly sweet. It is low angst has some drama and is in general a really great read. It did feel a bit drawn out in places, but all in all I didn’t mind that all too much.
I really enjoy Michael Pauley’s narrations and this one is no exception. He performs the books with such ardour that is such a treat listening to him. He nails all the characters and it’s easy to follow along with the story. I have to say, I have a weakness for his voice as well and will happily spend a day listening to anything he has to say.
Felix and the Prince was a real treat and a joy to listen to and it was a good addition to the Forever Wilde series.
